RSM is looking for a dynamic experienced M&A tax professional to join our national Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Tax group. This is a rapidly growing tax advisory practice with significant growth opportunities. We advise multinational corporations, privately held companies, partnerships, and private equity firms on the tax aspects of planning, structuring, and executing M&A transactions.
This position within RSM's M&A Tax practice will be responsible for the following job duties, which are focused around three core concepts: Technical & Quality Expertise, People & Talent Management, and Client Service/Business Development.
- Work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team that focuses on delivering due diligence and tax structuring services, and communicates findings and opportunities to clients
- Work with and assist other senior members of the M&A Tax practice with various technical tax issues dealing with CCPCs, public corporations, partnerships and international / cross-border M&A tax advisory mandates
- Assist clients with various advisory mandates including reorganizations, pre-sale planning (buy side and sell side), tax structuring for financings, debt restructurings, recapitalization transactions, safe income computations, modeling, and general tax transaction support
- Perform tax due diligence, including reviewing target's historic tax profile, planning, tax examination, acquisition/disposition, and filing history to assess potential risks and opportunities
- Review and commenting on purchase agreement and disclosure schedules
- Managing multiple engagements simultaneously and working with colleagues across Canada as well as the RSM global network of firms
- Develop, motivate, and train staff and senior level team members
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field
- CPA in-depth tax program and/or advanced CPA in-depth courses in-progress or completed
- 5+ years of experience in a public accounting firm, a corporate tax department, preferably within M&A tax or Canadian income tax areas of focus
- Knowledge of a broad range of corporate tax matters in various industries, accounting and financial reporting
- Ability to manage multiple complex engagements and deliver timely, high-quality work.
- Strong writing, analytical, research, excel and organizational skills
- Strong communication, presentation, project management and business development skills

At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Compensation Range: $88,000 - $162,000
Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
