What we offer

Reporting to the Director, Taxation & Legal Entities, the Tax Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies, across all aspects of income tax compliance and reporting with a high degree of accuracy and on a timely basis. You'll work across a complex, cross-border asset management platform with exposure to both Canadian and U.S. operations, joint ventures, and institutional partners.

What you'll do
  • Prepare and organize accurate, timely working papers to support tax filings.
  • Prepare tax provisions, tax estimates/instalments and income tax returns for Canadian and U.S. corporations and partnerships.
  • Respond to and manage income tax, GST/HST, and VAT audit inquiries from tax authorities across jurisdictions.
  • Monitors changes in tax legislation and updates policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Support the structuring of new joint ownership arrangements, including partnerships and joint ventures.
  • Research and identify green and sustainability tax credits, including Canadian SR&ED and U.S. R&D claims.
  • Support tax planning initiatives and identify opportunities to improve tax efficiency across entities and jurisdictions.
  • Communicate with external partners on tax information requirements.
  • Liaise with regional and national finance team members.
  • Participate in special projects supporting regional and national management, as required.
  • Assist with non-routine tax issues and projects as they arise


What you bring
  • University or college degree in a related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting or tax experience, with required corporate tax experience, including tax audits, disputes, and transfer pricing.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian and U.S. corporate tax.
  • CPA designation required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple priorities while delivering results.
  • Strong learning agility and the ability to manage competing demands.

Bonus points
  • Completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program is preferred.

Compensation

The expected base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000. Actual pay may vary depending on your job-related knowledge, competencies, and skills. We recognize that exceptional situations may fall outside this range, and we encourage all interested candidates to apply.

You are also eligible to participate in Mattamy's annual bonus program which gives you the opportunity to increase your total compensation if business and individual goals are achieved.
