Full Job Description
Reporting to the VP Tax, The Tax Manager will be responsible for Canadian corporate income tax compliance, tax accounting, and commodity tax matters for a complex corporate and/or financial services organization. The successful candidate will support tax reporting, tax audits, planning initiatives, and indirect tax compliance while partnering with finance, accounting, legal and treasury.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Prepare or review of Canadian federal and provincial income tax returns ensuring timely filing of tax forms and elections
  • Prepare, review and/or manage tax installments
  • Prepare, review and/or manage quarterly and annual global tax provision calculations, tax balance sheet maintenance and financial statement disclosures
  • Assemble and prepare the necessary documentation to support annual transfer pricing studies and documentation
  • Support the management of tax audits and assessments by performing technical analysis and gathering documentation throughout the audit process
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing GST/HST, QST, PST, sales and use tax compliance process
  • Coordinate indirect tax processes with finance and operational teams
  • Participate in special projects/perform technical research as assigned by management

Skills and attributes for success

  • Execution of a variety of corporate and partnership tax processes including planning, compliance, provision and controversy matters
  • Experience with Selected Listed Financial Institution (SLFI) calculations and filings
  • Solid understanding of accounting under IFRS, including current and deferred taxes under IAS 12.
  • Enhance technical skills by remaining up-to-date on trends, new legislative developments and tax authority decisions, and apply them to relevant complex situations
  • Positive and cooperative attitude and maintaining the confidential and proprietary nature of the company's information and related work products

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Minimum of 4 years of Canadian corporate tax experience in an accounting firm or relevant industry
  • An accounting designation or other related experience or certification relevant to an area of specialization.
  • At a minimum, completion of level 2 of CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course and/or relevant GST/HST courses
  • A commitment to learning in a tax technology environment
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines
  • Process oriented with excellent documentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

This role follows our in office work model and requires employees to be onsite four days per week to support collaboration and business needs.


This opportunity is for an existing vacancy with the company. Theanticipatedbase salary range for this position is$69,500to $119,500. Exactsalary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a bonus program. In addition, The Company offers a variety of benefits to eligible employees, including health insurance coverage, wellness programs, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plans, paid leave programs, education-related programs, paid holidays and vacation time, and many others.
