We want you to support the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Program by joining the Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) team as a Systems Engineer. The Embedded System Engineering team handles all Component level requirements for the Trident II ballistic missile (commonly known as the D5LE and D5LE2 missile), oversees interface definitions, plans and executes verification processes, and has fingers in every development project under the FBM Program.

As a Systems Engineer for the Embedded System Engineering team on the FBM Life Extension 2 (LE2) program, you will:
  • Develop/analyze/verify component level requirements and document/manage accordingly.
  • Coordinate with the customer and other organizations to implement verification analyses and tests.
  • Organize/coordinate objective evidence creation and documentation.
  • Organize/coordinate component level technical reviews.
  • Prepare, review and present data products for technical reviews.
  • Mentor the team and provide guidance to early career staff.

  • Meet all the Basic Qualifications
  • Have an Active Secret Clearance prior to start
  • Have at least 3 years of professional work experience


The information below reflects the standard job description for this position: Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Basic Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Systems Engineering
  • Experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • Demonstrated capability in requirements and/or verification
  • Experience leading teams in generation of technical data products
  • Experience integrating across functional organizations
  • Active Secret security clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance; US Citizenship required


Desired Skills

  • Experience with DOORS or DOORS Next
  • Experience with, or on, the FBM program, working with the Navy, or Submarine exposure is highly desired
  • Self-starter, able to complete work without appreciable direction
  • MS Office software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and/or Project
  • Highly effective communication skills, including ability to explain complex concepts, lead reviews, and negotiate requirements
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice


Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $95900.00 - $178100.00

The salary range for this position is as listed on the requisition. Please note that the salary information listed is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market(work location) and business considerations when extending an offer.

  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
