Full Job Description
As a Systems Engineer, you'll drive how our flight vehicle holds together as a system: its subsystems, the interfaces between them, and the evidence that it all works in the environments it has to survive. You'll decompose mission needs into subsystem requirements, define and control interfaces across hardware, software, and electrical domains, and lead the path to verification through bench, environmental, and flight test. You'll work alongside GNC, flight software, avionics, propulsion, structures, and test, and you'll be hands-on in the lab and on the range. If you've taken hardware from concept through qualification and flight, and you want to do it on a system that must work the first time while establishing the appropriate layers of process, this is your chance.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop system architecture and derive, allocate, and maintain subsystem requirements across avionics, propulsion, structures, power, GNC, and flight software
Maintain interface control documents (ICDs) for mechanical, electrical, data, and software interfaces, both internally and with suppliers, partners, and customers
Build and maintain the system model, keeping requirements, interfaces, and verification traceable
Plan and support environmental qualification and acceptance testing: vibration, shock, thermal, thermal vacuum, altitude, humidity, and EMI/EMC, per MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, or program-tailored standards
Write test plans and procedures for critical subsystems, and support vehicle-level integration and acceptance testing
Own verification and validation, making sure every requirement has a clear method (test, analysis, inspection, demonstration) and a path to closure
Support day-to-day technical work across design, software, and test teams, resolving interface conflicts and cross-subsystem issues as they arise
Support test data analysis, anomaly resolution, and failure investigations to find root cause and drive corrective actions
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
4+ years of engineering experience, with significant time in systems engineering on flight vehicles, missiles, or comparable complex systems
Hands-on experience with requirements development and management, interface definition (ICDs), and verification across hardware and software
Direct experience planning or executing environmental qualification or acceptance testing
Working knowledge across mechanical, electrical, software, and controls disciplines
Ability to travel for test campaigns
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
M.S. or Ph.D. in engineering, math, or physics
Experience taking a flight vehicle or subsystem through qualification and flight test
Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1540/SMC-S-016, or similar test standards
Understanding of aerodynamics, avionics, GNC, and flight systems
Proficiency in Python with exposure to C/C++ as a bonus
Familiarity with system safety, reliability, and configuration management
