Full Job Description

Leidos is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our hybrid infrastructure. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing our virtualized environment, optimizing cloud workloads, and ensuring robust endpoint and server security. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise in VMware, Citrix, and AWS, coupled with a strong background in Active Directory management and rigorous automated enterprise patching workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Virtualization & VDI Management: Administer, configure, and optimize enterprise VMware vSphere/ESXi environments. Build, maintain, and scale Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (VDI), managing storefronts, delivery groups, and golden images.

  • Cloud Infrastructure: Manage and optimize cloud solutions within AWS, leveraging core services such as EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, Route 53, and auto-scaling groups to support hybrid connectivity.

  • Identity & Access Management: Oversee and maintain Active Directory (AD), including Group Policy Objects (GPOs), organizational units (OUs), domain controller health, and identity access control settings.

  • Endpoint & Infrastructure Security: Deploy, configure, and maintain Trellix endpoint security, threat intelligence, and antivirus policies across the enterprise ecosystem.

  • Patch Management & Maintenance: Own the end-to-end vulnerability management and OS/software patching lifecycles for Windows/Linux servers and VDI instances, minimizing downtime through proactive maintenance windows.

  • Monitoring & Performance Tuning: Utilize enterprise monitoring tools to proactively foresee bottlenecks, troubleshoot complex tier-2/3 technical incidents, and ensure maximum systems availability.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Must have an active TS/SCI with Poly

Technical Experience

  • Virtualization: 3–5+ years of hands-on experience administering VMware vSphere and Citrix VDI infrastructures.

  • Cloud Platforms: Proven experience deploying and maintaining infrastructure in Amazon Web Services (AWS).

  • Identity & Directory Services: Deep understanding of Active Directory Architecture, DNS, DHCP, and group policies.

  • Security Tools: Direct experience working with Trellix (formerly McAfee Enterprise / FireEye) endpoint security management tools.

  • Automation & Patching: Proficiency with automated patching tools and configuration management systems (e.g., WSUS, SCCM, Ansible) along with scripting capabilities in PowerShell, Python, or Bash.

Education & Certifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology and at least 12 years of relatable work experience OR a Masters and at least 10 year of relatable work experience OR 16+ years of relatable work experience.

    Preferred Attributes

    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills under pressure.

    • Excellent collaboration skills to act as a bridge between security, development, and network teams.

    • Experience operating within a structured Change Management process framework.

    Preferred Certifications:

    • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

    • Citrix Certified Associate / Professional (CCA-V / CCP-V)

    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator

    Pay Range $131,300.00 - $237,350.00
