Job Summary:
The Systems Engineer is responsible for performing Systems Engineering activities related to Information Technology or Engineering including: concept of operations formulation, requirements definition, analysis and engineering, system architecting, system analysis and design, interface and data architectures, validation and verification, systems integration, system op. performance analysis, Lifecycle cost analysis estimation, decision analysis and physical configuration analysis (PCA). Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software or engineering specifications. Provides specific, detailed information for selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. From an information technology perspective, may be concerned with floor layout, power cooling, data storage, infrastructure management, backup, monitoring, operating systems, directory services, identity management, access management, and automation.
Key Responsibilities:
3 Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
3 Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer/operational requirements into system hardware and software engineering specifications.
3 Provides specific, detailed information for selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity or capability requirements.
3 Manages large Agile or DevSecOps teams/projects, to include support to cost estimating, risk management, schedule development, and execution.
3 Designs, develops, delivers and deploys engineered solutions, following DoD Life Cycle engineering processes, and/or best practices.
Qualifications:
3 Education: Bachelors degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field required.
3 Experience: 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field
3 Clearance Requirement: Secret
3 Required Skills:
3 Strong knowledge of system design, integration, and architecture
3 Experience with a broad range of system types: custom developed HW/SW, COTS/GOTS HW/SW, and/or specialty engineering
3 Experience with configuration and data management, hardware and software testing & evaluation of classified systems
3 Demonstrates expertise in at least one engineering field: software, hardware, network, cybersecurity, test, systems
3 Experienced problem-solver, creative thinker, with outcome-focused mindset
3 Preferred Skills:
3 Experience sustaining UEWR, PARCS, or other radar system such as PAVE PAWS, BMEWS, AN/TPY-2, COBRA DANE, LRDR, Aegis, etc.
3 Experience in DoD systems engineering, Model-based Systems Engineering and related areas, to include managing teams/projects delivering solutions for missile warning or other national security space mission systems
3 Experience working with large system of systems legacy architecture, upgrading/modernizing outdated technology and/or mitigating supportabilty risks with creative solutions
3 Agile certification (SAFe, SCRUM, etc.)
3 Experience with Jira, Confluence, Gitlab, Cameo, or similar tools
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
3 Office environment with occasional on-site work in data centers or with hardware systems.
3 May require after-hours or weekend work to address critical system issues or deployments.
3 Some travel may be necessary to support system installations or meet with stakeholders.
3 Ability to work at a desk and operate a computer for extended periods.
3 Occasional lifting of IT equipment or hardware components (up to 25 lbs).
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position, typically working 40 hours per week. Overtime may be required depending on operational needs.
