Responsibilities As a Systems Engineer - Entry Level, the selected individual will apply systems engineering principles to support the full lifecycle development of complex technical systems, from concept through deployment. Responsibilities may include:
- Supporting the planning, development, design, integration, and management of system solutions throughout the project lifecycle
- Assisting in the development, analysis, allocation, and traceability of system requirements
- Supporting system architecture definition, interface definition, and system performance analysis activities
- Participating in system integration, verification, validation, and test planning activities
- Analyzing possible technical solutions using standard procedures, engineering judgment, and data-driven assessments
- Performing systems engineering research and analysis to solve a range of problems using established principles and practices
- Compiling and evaluating design, test, operational, and performance data to support assigned tasks
- Interpreting, compiling, and analyzing collected technical data to support decision-making and technical recommendations
- Preparing technical specifications, reports, presentations, and other engineering artifacts
- Completing assigned project work within schedule, budget, and technical performance constraints
- Building effective working relationships with internal clients, project stakeholders, and multidisciplinary engineering teams
Key Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field
- Foundational understanding of systems engineering methodologies and their application throughout the system lifecycle
- Familiarity with systems engineering processes including requirements development, architecture design, integration, verification, validation, risk management, and technical planning
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Strong analytical, technical writing, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to evaluate technical alternatives and communicate recommendations effectively
- U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications - Experience or coursework supporting Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Energy (DOE), national security, nuclear, aerospace, or other highly regulated technical programs
- Exposure to our coursework in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts and implementation
- Familiarity with requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS, DOORS Next, Polarion, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with systems engineering standards and practices such as INCOSE guidance, ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, or EARS
- Any experience supporting system integration, verification, validation, or testing activities
- Active DoD Secret security clearance
Compensation Data Battelle is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role is $71,200 - $101,400 per year, in addition to our comprehensive benefits package. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, skills, and certifications. Salary ranges may vary based on geographic location and market conditions.
