Responsibilities:
  • Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practical, and consistent with objectives. Exercises latitude in determining technical objectives of the assignment methods and in selecting techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining resolution based on risk based assessment (including dFMEA analysis and input into product Hazard Analysis).
  • Contributes to the completion and support of specific programs and projects, including product conceptualization and develops work plans to reduce concept to design. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions would result in serious program delays.
  • Contributes to management of product requirements and high-level design system and subsystem specifications under the direction of a supervising System Integrator. This includes conceiving, writing, tracing, characterizing and verifying specification performance.
  • Assumes a technical contributor role and works closely with other functional groups, especially assay development and engineering. May provide guidance and work direction to lower project level developers.
  • Independently evaluates problems of moderate complexity and applies analytical/scientific principles to fulfill project and business objectives. Designs and performs development activity independently within defined parameters with minimal supervision.
  • Development and test of detailed subsystem workflow step and exception logic to guide software in development of instrument functions as well as to inform Theory of Operation for product/solution.
  • Ability to perform various analyses of automated systems including timing studies, control systems, and critical parameter identification and management.
  • Collects, records, analyzes, interprets, reports, and, presents results to cross functional colleagues and leaders.
  • Ability to automate data processing of structured/unstructured data using programming languages like Python.
  • Responsible for employing DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) and Technology Development best practices to manage technical risk and impart product robustness and reliability.
  • Contributes to system verification and validation activities including protocol writing, execution and reporting which will be used in regulatory submission.
  • Contributes to the transition from R&D to manufacturing/service and supports system troubleshooting activities for products in the field.
  • Liaison between R&D and Quality/Reliability/Service functions to inform/support functions based on quality procedures including risk analysis, verification, validation for specific subsystems

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• B.S. or M.S in Engineering or Sciences
• Experience in the development of Lab or Industrial Automation equipment and instrumentation preferred.
• Minimum of two years relevant experience or a combination of education and experience.
• Experience within vitro diagnostic support/development preferred
