Position DescriptionAs the Systems Design Engineer, you will play a vital role in the design and implementation of rugged camera and sensor-based monitoring solutions, involving 2D/3D Imaging, IIoT and GNSS, Embedded CPU/GPU Computing, as well as building a high-performance infrastructure to run Computer Vision and AI algorithms. You will have the chance to contribute to the design, architecture, implementation, and optimization of new and existing products alongside a passionate group of professionals dedicated to solving tough challenges in mining.
Responsibilities- Take the lead on a variety of projects: sensor integration, data collection and analysis, automation, and scale-up
- Implement/deploy internal software tools and scripts for acquiring image and sensor data
- Produce task lists to breakdown project assignments into appropriate levels of details
- Produce required technical reports, drawings, schematics, and documentation
- Assist in maintaining hardware component life cycle, and firmware design and testing, as necessary.
- Ability to travel internationally to mine sites (up to 20%)

Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics / Computer Engineering (or similar field)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in machine vision, camera design, optoelectronics, and/or related fields. Research-based graduate degrees will be counted toward job experience.
- Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, proficiency in Python and/or C++, and ability to develop simple tools/programs.
- Familiarity with computer vision, OpenCV, and TensorFlow suite.
- Experience with instrumentation and sensors (data acquisition, signal conditioning, accelerometers, gyros, GPS, vision, lidar, radar, etc.).
- Experience with SolidWorks (3D CAD).
- Familiarity with Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS) and Windows (Embedded/IOT) operating system environments.
- Use of hand and power tools for prototyping and design feasibility studies.
- Proficient in MS-Office.
- Class 5 driver's license
Beneficial Experience- Experience designing multilayer PCBs with power conditioning and high-speed interfaces.
- Experience with KiCAD (or equivalent) and MS-Visio (or equivalent), SolidWorks (Simulation)
- Exposure to, or experience with, cloud-based networking solutions.
- Experience with imaging systems and/or camera design.
- Networking experience with TCP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, and other directory services, used across local and wide-area networks of varying topologies.
- Experience designing products for harsh environments.
- Experience with source control and issue tracking systems (SVN, git, JIRA).
- Experience designing for compliance with related international standards (CE, UL, FCC).
- Experience in high-volume electronics manufacturing.
