Full Job Description
Overview
As a part of the V2X Ground-Based Radar Development (GBRD) team, we are a part of an exciting opportunity to design and field a Common Radar Back End supporting UEWR, PARCS, COBRA DANE, and AN/FPS 85 radar sites.
We are seeking a System Administrator to join a team of engineers in the design of the Common Radar Back End platform layer-servers, operating systems, containerized hosting environment, health/status, logging, and platform automation-across multiple integration laboratories serving operational radar sites. Our qualified candidate will be instrumental in certifying that mission applications are hosted on a stable, secure, and well-documented platform and will seamlessly integrate into the mission-critical systems supporting the radar systems.
Responsibilities
Design, install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot Linux and Windows server operating systems in laboratory and operational environments.
Apply approved operating-system baselines, patches, packages, drivers, firmware dependencies, user settings, and service configurations.
Develop processes for and manage user accounts, groups, roles, permissions, authentication settings, and privileged access in accordance with approved procedures.
Administer physical servers, virtual machines, storage resources, file systems, and supporting platform services.
Support containerized hosting environments, including node configuration, service deployment, image updates, configuration changes, service restarts, and basic cluster administration.
Configure and maintain system monitoring, health and status, alerting, performance, capacity, and availability tools.
Configure and maintain system logging, audit collection, log rotation, retention, search, export, and forwarding to centralized monitoring tools.
Perform routine backup, restore, recovery, configuration backup, and disaster-recovery support activities.
Execute approved automation scripts and tools for system deployment, health checks, configuration validation, patch reporting, account management, and recurring administration tasks.
Support system integration by building test configurations, applying approved changes, collecting diagnostics, and reproducing technical issues.
Troubleshoot operating-system, storage, virtualization, container, service, account, performance, and interface issues or issues that are blocking developers or test engineers; document corrective actions.
Support rack installation, server setup, operating-system installation, cable and interface verification, configuration checkout, and post-installation validation.
Maintain accurate configuration documentation, as-built records, system inventories, software versions, hardware details, network settings, and administrator procedures.
Support cybersecurity personnel by implementing approved hardening requirements, remediation actions, account controls, audit settings, and evidence collection.
Support developmental and operational test activities by collecting logs, isolating faults, reproducing issues, implementing approved corrections, and supporting retest.
Develop, document, and maintain system builds, network diagrams, administrator runbooks, checklists, standard operating procedures, recovery procedures, and training materials.
Provide technical status, issue, risk, and configuration information to engineering and program stakeholders.
Office based environment. Maybe some occasional travel, CONUS, OCONUS and Remote.
