Delivery Director - Product Engineer
AI-native product engineering leader who owns the AI-native delivery system and engineering practice across a portfolio of programs and the leaders who run them.
What You'll Do
As a Delivery Director-level Product Engineer in Slalom's Cloud-Build capability, you are accountable for product outcomes, technical quality, and the AI-native delivery system across large, complex, AI-enabled programs or a portfolio of smaller projects and programs. You partner with client executives, product owners, and engineering leaders to translate strategy into portfolio-level product direction and investment cases, lead the Product Engineers and managers who run the work, orchestrate mixed teams of people and AI agents, and align with Cloud-Build and cross-functional go-to-market leaders so engineering excellence becomes lasting client value. You set the technical and AI-workflow standard for the practice, so every program traces back to a measurable business outcome. Core responsibilities include:
- Owning product outcomes, technical quality, and delivery performance - roadmaps, forecasts, and margin - across your programs and projects, measured in OKRs, KPIs, and ROI.
- Defining and evolving the practice's AI-native engineering system - context engineering standards, specifications, prototyping and experimentation patterns, prompts, agents, templates, and workflows - and championing scalable, ethical AI adoption with Solution Architects and AI specialists.
- Setting technical direction for AI-enabled delivery across programs - toolchain, repositories, integrations, and agentic orchestration - and ensuring teams build on it.
- Translating client strategy into portfolio-level product direction - moving from ambiguity to specifications, prototypes, and validated investment cases.
- Partnering with delivery leadership to align governance, risk management, and delivery health across programs and to staff the right roles on the right programs.
- Leading, mentoring, and growing Product Engineers and managers - building technical depth, AI fluency, specialization, and practice leadership - so they become AI-native, business-minded technical leaders.
- Building and deepening relationships with client executives and decision-makers, and leading value-based conversations about AI, engineering approach, and return on investment backed by experiment results.
- Partnering with sales and go-to-market leaders by lending technical credibility to pursuits and solution offerings - AI-native and agentic products, rapid prototypes, and AI-enabled modernization.
- Leading teams and clients through change - creating psychological safety for experimentation and clarifying where accountability sits between people and AI-assisted workflows.
What You'll Bring
You are a curious problem solver and bring extensive experience leading software delivery and engineering at program and portfolio scale, with a track record of owning product outcomes and financial performance - not just outputs - across multiple concurrent, complex programs. You demonstrate:
- Proven success leading complex, multi-workstream projects and programs, with accountability for roadmap, financials, and technical quality.
- Strong technical fluency - comfortable in code, repositories, IDEs, version control, and AI-enabled engineering tools, and credible with engineering and architecture leaders.
- Proven success building and scaling AI-native ways of working - context, specifications, prompts, agents, and workflows - across build, test, and delivery.
- Experience orchestrating AI-centric delivery - smaller teams, AI across build and test, and measurable gains in timelines and cost - and refining it as practices evolve.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to connect client needs to scalable, AI-enabled solutions and demonstrate return on investment.
- Demonstrated ability to influence executives and communicate effectively across technical and business audiences.
- Strong risk identification, escalation, and mitigation skills across a portfolio - managing ambiguity with minimal oversight.
- Experience mentoring and managing technical delivery leaders, including managers, with a focus on building high-performing teams.
- Comfort with ambiguity, a passion for innovation, and a commitment to delivering measurable outcomes.
