System Administrator

(Full-time, onsite in El Segundo, CA - U.S. citizenship required)

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced System Administrator to manage, secure, and optimize our Microsoft 365 environment and broader IT infrastructure. This person will be proactive and self-directed, able to identify, document, communicate and resolve issues with a customer-service mindset, while maintaining security and policy compliance. They will be a key point of contact for day-to-day system health, user support escalations, and infrastructure projects - someone who takes ownership, spots problems before they become fires, and drives improvements without needing constant direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain the Microsoft 365 environment, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and Entra ID (Azure AD).
  • Administer on-premises and/or hybrid infrastructure (servers, networking, Active Directory) as applicable.
  • Manage user accounts, licensing, groups, and permissions across Microsoft 365 and connected systems.
  • Respond to and resolve incidents in a timely manner; provide direct helpdesk support for company users.
  • Manage physical and virtual device, network, and compute infrastructure, configuration, and maintenance; ensure updated, performant and compliant.
  • Document issues, system changes, actions and resolution.
  • Stay current on Microsoft 365 roadmap changes, security updates, and industry best practices; Evaluate, recommend, and implement new tools and practices.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in system administration, with hands-on Microsoft 365 administration experience (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID/Azure AD)
  • Strong understanding of Windows Servers, Azure configuration, networking, identity and access management, including MFA, conditional access, SSO, enterprise applications
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and administration tasks
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose issues methodically
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical staff
  • Strong sense of ownership - comfortable identifying problems and proposing solutions rather than waiting to be told what to do

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent)
  • Experience with Intune/endpoint management and device compliance policies
  • Experience with security tools such as Microsoft Defender, Purview, or similar
  • Experience in high-security and regulated IT environments
  • Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments

Background in a small-to-mid-sized IT team where versatility across roles is common

Salary Range: $80K - $100K
