The Supervisor, Ambulatory Coding coordinates, supervises, and is accountable for the daily activities of ambulatory (professional fee) coding staff. This role has primary impact on the team level, owning task-level outputs and ensuring timely, accurate completion of coding operations. The Supervisor sets priorities, resolves operational issues, and ensures work aligns with established policies, procedures, and business plans to support compliant reimbursement and revenue cycle performance.

Primary Responsibilities:- Coordinates, supervises, and oversees daily activities of coding staff to ensure productivity, quality, and turnaround expectations are met
- Sets team priorities and distributes workloads to ensure completion of short-term objectives
- Owns team output at the task level and monitors performance against productivity and quality standards
- Collaborates with other supervisors and departments to coordinate workflow and resolve operational dependencies
- Develops plans to meet short-term operational goals aligned with departmental priorities
- Ensures compliance with coding guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal policies
- Audits coding work, identifies trends, and supports corrective actions to improve accuracy and performance
- Acts as a subject matter resource to coding staff, revenue cycle partners, and operational stakeholders
- Identifies and resolves operational problems using defined processes, technical expertise, and sound judgment
- Makes decisions guided by policies, procedures, and business plans
- Conducts staff training, coaching, and performance management activities including evaluations
- Promotes employee engagement, development, and retention within the team
- Provides responsive customer service to internal and external stakeholders including physicians and operational partners
- Supports process improvement efforts to enhance coding quality, efficiency, and turnaround time
- Participates in or leads special projects and operational initiatives as assigned

Required Qualifications:- Active coding credentials such as RHIT, RHIA, CCS or CPC
- 3+ years of ambulatory/professional fee coding experience
- 3+ years of experience with electronic health records and coding systems
Preferred Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience in coding operations
- Experience in a multi-specialty or multi-site environment
- Familiarity with encoder and computer-assisted coding tools (e.g., Epic, 3M, EncoderPro)
- Experience supporting revenue cycle performance initiatives and metrics

The salary for this role will range from $60,200 - $107,400 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
