Job DescriptionThe Superintendent is responsible for leading field construction activities to ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications. This role serves as a key leader in coordinating trade partners, craft personnel, project teams, and client stakeholders throughout all phases of construction.
Depending on experience and project assignment, the Superintendent may lead discipline-specific scopes of work or oversee multiple disciplines and field teams across complex construction projects. This individual will be responsible for managing construction scopes ranging from approximately
$2 million to $50 million+ in direct construction value, providing leadership, mentoring field personnel, and driving successful project execution from mobilization through turnover.
Responsibilities- Lead daily field construction activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.
- Manage construction execution to meet project specifications, budgets, quality standards, and schedule commitments.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise subcontractors, craft personnel, vendors, and field staff.
- Lead complex to highly complex construction projects across multiple phases of execution.
- Develop and maintain short-term and long-term construction plans, sequencing strategies, and look-ahead schedules.
- Drive implementation of Lean Construction principles, constructability reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents while proactively identifying and resolving field issues.
- Partner closely with Project Managers, Project Directors, Engineers, Designers, and Owners to ensure project success.
- Oversee discipline-specific scopes of work or multiple construction disciplines depending on project complexity and assignment.
- Manage construction scopes ranging from approximately $2M to $50M+ in direct construction value.
- Ensure compliance with all safety requirements, quality standards, and company procedures.
- Mentor and develop Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and other field personnel.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, communication, and operational excellence across the jobsite
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Science, or equivalent construction experience required.
- Minimum 15 years of construction experience.
- Demonstrated success managing construction scopes on mid-sized to large-scale projects.
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, scheduling, sequencing, constructability, and field operations.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Proven ability to coordinate and lead field teams, subcontractors, and trade partners.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience utilizing construction technology, project management software, and mobile field applications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other project management and reporting tools.
Preferred Qualifications- Design-Build project experience.
- Experience in life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food & beverage, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, mission critical, or other highly technical construction environments.
- Experience with PlanGrid, VDC platforms, and other construction technology tools.
- Expertise in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing/Piping, Automation, Instrumentation & Controls, or other technical construction disciplines.
- Experience leading multiple discipline teams and mentoring field personnel.
- Proven ability to lead large, complex construction efforts with minimal oversight
