Job DescriptionOverview AtkinsRéalis Transmission, Distribution and Renewables division has an exciting full-time career opportunity for experienced Substation Electrical Designer in the field of Transmission and Distribution.
The Substation Electrical Designer specialist is required to work within a multi-discipline team to Design and Engineer efficient and reliable Electrical substation and distribution network.
Your role- Develop Electrical Substation facilities (High Voltage and Medium Voltage levels) including site and bus work layouts, ground grid drawings, lightning protection, cable routing conduits/trench plan, plot plans and elevation drawings for outdoor substation equipment.
- Assist Design engineers in developing Switchgear room and Control room layout drawings for substation projects.
- Assist Design Engineers in the preparation of Power Single Line Diagram, Relay and Metering One-line diagram and Communication architectural block diagram, AC three-line diagram, Elementary Schematics and Wiring diagrams.
- Assist Design Engineers in the preparation of Bills of Materials and Cable Schedules.
- Perform peer reviews of the drawings prepared by other designers & drafters in the team to ensure compliance with the utility of CADD Standards.
- Work closely with peers and other discipline designers to ensure accurate delivery that will meet utility Standards, industry standards and meet good engineering practices, policies and procedures and maintain complete project documentation with respect to all design packages.
- Maintain good working relationships with internal groups that support the project.
About you- An Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from a recognized Institution with a minimum of 6-8 years of experience as Designer in the field of Transmission and Distribution Substations.
- Experience in Hydro One and Toronto Hydro CADD Standards is a must with working knowledge of North American codes and standards such as IEEE and ANSI.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bentley MicroStation, ProjectWise and Electronic Document Management Systems are a must. Autodesk REVIT experience is an asset.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in Client interaction and participating in technical discussions is an asset

Additional informationExpected compensation for this role is between $77,900 - $107,100 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
