As a Submarine Development Professional you will be on a dynamic team, supporting Team Submarine COLUMBIA Program Office. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact on our military defense and safety of our sailors.

Team Submarine's Submarine COLUMBIA Class Program Office is responsible for:

The construction of COLUMBIA Class submarines, financial and budget management, shipyard support of submarines, vendor support of submarines, logistical support, quality assurance (SUBSAFE), and post-delivery submarine certifications and test programs.

The Team Submarine concept unifies once diverse submarine-related activities into a single submarine-centric organization with the goal of eliminating traditional stovepipe structures and processes that created impediments and inefficiencies in the submarine research, development, acquisition, and maintenance communities. Team Submarine provides improved communication among the various offices that contribute to the overall success of the United States Submarine Force.

Must be able to obtain/maintain a U.S. (DoD) Secret security clearance.

In this role, you will:
  • Participate in a job rotational program to learn various aspects of submarine engineering, design, research and development.
  • Potential areas of engagement include structural systems, metallic and non-metallic materials, electrical and electronic systems, propulsion machinery, submarine acoustics, and various submarine support systems.
  • Gain familiarity with the Submarine Shipbuilding Industry and be exposed to a broad range of industry vendors, shipbuilding activities, and programmatic tools.
  • Gain familiarity in submarine construction and design, submarine quality assurance programs, the Navy's risk management programs.
  • Help facilitate timely design and acquisition decisions.
  • Interface with a broad range of experts and stakeholders.
  • Be assign a mentor that will assist you in resume development, interview techniques, job searches, and adapt to working in a professional environment.


To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Ability to obtain Secret Clearance.
  • At least one year in an accredited university's engineering, technology, computer science or science.
  • An interest in shipbuilding.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to use a variety of software products (e.g. MS Office).
  • Veteran experience in the military is a plus!
  • To be able to travel 10%.
