Reporting to the Sr. Procurement and Subcontract Manager, the Subcontracts Manager will oversee and manage all Procurement disciplines; Subcontracts, Purchasing, Material Control, Expediting, Logistics for the assigned Project related to Aecon's Heavy Civils works to maximize profitability, improve efficiency and drive strategy.
What You'll Do Here:- Oversees and monitors all Subcontract Administration processes at the site level to ensure compliance with Aecon Plans and Policies.
- Responsible for functional support of Subcontract Administration and Procurement teams, and support of personnel.
- Responsible for maintaining the Standard Agreement Documents.
- Reviews and approves any variations to the procurement and subcontracting process.
- Provides guidance and training in subcontracts and procurement methodology.
- Conducts periodic audits for Subcontracts and procurement policy and methodology compliance.
- Provides guidance, training, and legal review regarding negotiated Agreements and procurement.
- Manages liens and any legal claims or disputes.
- Holds ultimate responsibility for commercial dealings with Subcontractors and Suppliers.
- Supports the development of training, competency profiles, and career development of team members.
- Creates, promotes, and maintains a safe, open, and respectful workplace culture and environment.
- Provides feedback and guidance to direct reports for annual goal setting; supports the establishment of individual career development plans and identifies training and professional development opportunities.
- Participates in annual performance reviews (with mid-year check-ins) and provides constructive feedback; implements performance improvement plans as needed with support from Human Resources.
- Establishes and leverages cross-functional relationships to facilitate effective and efficient Subcontract Management processes.
- Acts as a key Subject Matter Expert to external groups to support and improve Project Procurement and Subcontract processes.
- Oversees the development and implementation of project-specific Subcontract Management Plans, including coordination and support with project controls, ensuring compliance with contract conditions and Aecon standards.
- Provides coaching and hands-on training opportunities to junior team members, adapting teaching styles to suit the audience.
- Supports the development of project-specific Project Procurement Plans, Subcontract Management, and related tools and templates.
- Leads project-level recruitment efforts for new Procurement resources and communicates resource needs with senior leadership.
What You Bring to the Team:- Legal, Engineering or Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent preferred.
- Knowledge of construction law, Construction Act, negotiating and drafting construction contracts.
- Knowledge of project operations, policies, procedures, and strategic direction.
- 10-15 years' experience working for a contractor on a large-scale project.
- Career progression from quantity surveyor to senior/lead contract administrator would be an asset.
- Understanding of construction planning, scheduling and management.
- Experience dealing with labor obligations and their impact on the Project.
- Proficiency using Microsoft office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and SAP (Procure to pay).
- Strong decision-making ability and negotiation skills.
Two (2) positions are currently available across the Arctic Over the Horizon Radar (AOTH) and the Hamilton LRT projects.

Pay range: $130,000-$150,000 per year
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
