H&H is offering an exciting opportunity for a Structural Engineer to join our Annapolis, MD office. The successful candidate will support the inspection, evaluation, design, and rehabilitation of transportation structures and facilities throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Requirements- Perform field inspections, as a team leader, for condition assessments and reporting of transportation structures and facilities.
- Develop inspection reports, inspection field sketches in CAD, photo appendices, and inspection finding recommendations.
- Operate inspection equipment, including underbridge inspection vehicles, bucket trucks, access lifts, and other equipment.
- Prepare detailed plans for new and rehabilitation bridge designs.
- Perform engineering design calculations and structural analyses.
- Develop contract specifications, construction cost estimates, and contract bid documents.
- Evaluate existing structural conditions and develop recommendations for repair, rehabilitation, or replacement.
- Perform bridge load ratings and support structural evaluations in accordance with applicable standards and procedures.
- Coordinate structural design and inspection activities with project managers and other engineering disciplines.
- Review technical work, drawings, calculations, specifications, and inspection documentation for accuracy, quality, and completeness.
- Provide technical support during construction, including responding to field questions and reviewing contractor submittals and related documentation.
- Assist with project management activities, including task coordination, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Support preparation of proposals and development of scopes, schedules, and technical approaches for transportation structure projects.
- Communicate effectively with clients, project teams, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding technical findings, recommendations, and project requirements.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and inspection staff.
Requirements- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering; Structural Engineering concentration preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Eight to fifteen years of experience in transportation projects for state agencies in the Mid-Atlantic region preferred, including Maryland, Delaware, Washington, DC, and Virginia.
- Ability to develop proposals and schedules and manage tasks independently.
- Experience with FHWA Inventory and Element Level data collection.
- Experience with bridge load ratings.
- Previous bridge, culvert, ancillary highway structure, and/or tunnel inspection experience.
- Experience with current AASHTO design specifications, design procedures, bridge standards and details, and structural calculations.
- Ability to develop CAD drawings using DOT standards.
- FHWA/NHI Bridge Inspection Certification required.
- Good project management, technical writing, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications- FHWA/NHI Tunnel Inspection Certification.
- OSHA, SPRAT, or equivalent training.
- Experience working with state transportation agencies in the Mid-Atlantic region.
- Experience with bridge rehabilitation and transportation infrastructure design.
- Experience leading field inspection teams and coordinating inspection activities.
BenefitsSalary range: $115,000 to $160,000 annually. Salary commensurate with level of experience.
