Full Job Description
*This position can be in our Latham, Poughkeepsie, or Syracuse, NY offices. Job responsibilities; -Conduct biennial bridge inspections, documenting field conditions and ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices. -Coordinate with project management and quality control teams to maintain efficiency and accuracy. -Review inspection reports for adherence to regulations and standards. -Oversee Work Zone Traffic Control subcontractors for safe fieldwork. -Perform confined space entries under supervision when necessary. -Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff, fostering their development within the firm. -Supervise junior engineers on project-specific tasks. -Design and analyze reinforced concrete, structural steel, and other metal structures to meet client requirements during non-inspection periods. -Direct the development of models, drawings, and specifications. -Ensure designs comply with regulations and firm policies. -Represent the firm at conferences and events to enhance the visibility of products and services. -Perform other duties as needed. Strong Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Expert Knowledge of engineer principles of design. Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.). Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Strong knowledge of federal, state and local regulations. Ability to arrange/layout structural systems and elements for strength, stability, constructability, and construction economy. Strong knowledge of engineering analysis/design software (e.g. Revit, STAAD, RISA). Bachelor's degree in Civil, Architectural or Structural Engineering or related discipline. Professional engineering (PE) license. 7 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. -Previous experience with NYSDOT Biennial Bridge Inspections. -NHI 130055/130056 or NYSDOT equivalent. NHI 130078. #LI-HYBRID #LI-MS1 20% - 40% An appropriate and valid driver's license is required. USD $100,194.00 USD $175,365.00 CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate's salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training. All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
