This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight.
As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will design, analyze, and optimize complex engine components, assemblies and systems. A successful candidate will apply their knowledge to analyze and investigate potential modes of structural failure to ensure products meet maintenance and life cycle objectives. You will work with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions for challenging structural problems across various applications. You will be responsible for structural analysis of components and assemblies to support fabrication, testing, production and operational life cycle.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Lead structural analysis of combustion devices, pressurized structures and heat exchangers through design, development, testing and validation.
- Complete detailed hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) of components and assemblies to evaluate strength, fatigue, and creep.
- Evaluate bolted joints and flange separation with traditional hand calculations and detailed analysis as required.
- Collaborate with team members from various fields and backgrounds to perform trade studies which consider operating environment and duty cycle, to optimize design performance and durability.
- Document stress analysis to support release of engineering drawings and documents
- Improve enterprise analysis capabilities by creating process automation tools for model creation, strength checks, and analysis report generation
- Support test plan development to verify requirements and generate material and structural data necessary to establish confidence in design solutions
Minimum Qualifications- B.S. degree in engineering discipline and 2+ years of experience
- Demonstrated proficiency with one or more of the following analysis codes, ANSYS Workbench, Nastran, Abaqus, LS-Dyna
- Solid understanding of structural analysis/mechanics and failure modes (strength, fatigue, creep)
- Experience with analysis of welded assemblies and bolted joints.
- Knowledge of engineering materials and their applications to achieve optimal structural
- Demonstrated experience using scripting languages (VBA, Matlab, Python, FORTRAN, etc.)
- Experience with structural analysis of combustion devices or heat exchangers
Preferred Qualifications- MS Degree in engineering discipline
- Working knowledge of high-temperature material properties, selection and failure modes
- Familiar with fluid/thermal analysis and derivation of associated structural loads
- CAD proficiency (NX, CATIA, or similar software)
- Experience with design for manufacturing and assembly of complex systems
- Familiarity with ASME, API, AISC and ACI codes
- Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience with Agentic AI
Base Pay Range for:
WA applicants is $99,201.00 - $138,880.35
