Full Job Description
About the Role
As our Strategy & Operations Lead, Commercial and Payer Partnerships, you'll work with our Head of Commercial and Payer Partnerships to own that opportunity end-to-end. You'll build and run our strategy for contracting with regional health plans, prioritizing which plans to target, , communicating Prosper's value proposition, and negotiating agreements. You'll also own key areas of our overall commercial strategy from how we market Prosper to payers to how we think about entering new lines of business. You'll be involved in every step of building out the commercial function for one of the fastest growing companies in healthcare services.
You'll thrive here if you're a structured thinker who loves building relationships and wants to own outcomes, and is excited to help build new processes not just manage processes that someone else designed. You likely bring a mix of consulting and healthcare services experience, and you're excited to apply that toolkit to expand access to care and drive better healthcare outcomes.
Success in this role means:
Prosper is in-network with a growing set of regional and state health plans, opening care to millions more members
Prosper is building deeper and more strategic relationships with health plans that drive greater value for both sides
Payers know who Prosper is and why our care model matters for their members
Our commercial engine is becoming more scalable, with processes that efficiently support go-to-market and partner success as Prosper scales to 50 states:
Key Responsibilities
Win new payer contracts. Build and execute our strategy for regional health plans. Prioritize targets by size of opportunity, partner with Prosper leadership to identify contracts, run outreach, lead partnership discussions and negotiate agreements at competitive rates.
Strengthen our value proposition. Work with our clinical and clinical operations teams to execute and build on our clinical quality strategy Build payer awareness. Work with Prosper leadership to identify efficient high-ROI strategies for raising awareness, including by borrowing best practices from peer companies
Deepen existing partnerships. Stand up a lightweight partner success model (reporting, regular check-ins, joint operating committees) and help scale across partners
Make new payers work operationally. Partner with Product and Operations to build processes for seamlessly launching new payer partnerships
Scope what's next. Evaluate new growth channels, such as Medicaid and direct-to-employer, as Prosper expands
About You
3-6 years of experience, ideally a mix of management consulting and a healthcare services or health tech company. Partner-facing experience (BD, partnerships, partner success or growth) is a plus. Payer experience is helpful but not required.
Extreme ownership. You build your own plans, set your own deadlines and follow up without reminders. You measure yourself on contracts signed, not activity.
First-principles thinker. You break problems into the parts that matter, use data and clear reasoning to prioritize, and don't copy a playbook just because it worked elsewhere.
Resilient and resourceful. You use ingenuity, scrappiness and persistence to get deals done, even when payer timelines are slow and the first answer is no.
Executive presence. You can run a call alone with a VP-level payer stakeholder and build trust quickly.
Highly organized. You build systems to manage and prioritize many workstreams and relationships at once, without anything falling through the cracks.
Healthcare services fluency. You understand, or are eager to learn quickly, how payers work, including what drives both the organization and the individual teams you work with.
