Full Job Description
About the Role

The Strategic Operations Lead, Public Sector serves as a force multiplier for Socure's Public Sector business, supporting federal, state, and local government agencies-as well as education and healthcare institutions-as they modernize identity verification and combat fraud.

Reporting to the General Manager of Public Sector, you'll operate as a strategic partner and chief of staff, driving go-to-market execution, operational excellence, AI-enabled workflows, and cross-functional initiatives that accelerate growth. This is an ideal role for someone from consulting, finance, government, GovTech, or civic technology who thrives in ambiguity and wants broad exposure to senior leadership in a high-growth, pre-IPO environment.

What You'll Do
Revenue & Customer Execution
  • Lead execution of key customer and revenue initiatives, including quarterly business reviews, agency briefings, contract renewals, proof-of-value and pilot readouts, and RFP responses.
  • Support renewal and recompete strategies through pricing analysis, financial modeling, scenario planning, and risk assessment.
  • Identify expansion opportunities through agency, program, and market analysis.
  • Develop executive-ready materials that translate customer, policy, and technical requirements into clear recommendations.
Business Operations & Cross-Functional Execution
  • Partner across Sales, Solutions Consulting, Customer Success, Product, Revenue Operations, Finance, and Legal to drive execution across complex public sector sales cycles.
  • Own key operating cadences, including deal reviews, forecasting, internal QBRs, leadership meetings, and all-hands.
  • Track priorities, dependencies, and follow-ups while proactively identifying and resolving blockers.
  • Improve reporting, workflows, and cross-functional processes to increase operational efficiency and visibility.
Strategy & Leadership Enablement
  • Build scalable operating systems, dashboards, AI-enabled workflows, and automation to improve execution.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to Public Sector leadership, driving high-impact initiatives from concept through execution.
  • Conduct ad hoc strategic, financial, and operational analysis to support business decisions.
  • Bring structure to ambiguity by balancing strategic planning with day-to-day execution.

What You Bring

We're looking for a strategic operator who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and enjoys solving complex business challenges. We welcome candidates from a variety of high-performing backgrounds, including:

Strategy, Finance & Business Operations

You may have experience in management consulting, investment banking, private equity, corporate strategy, strategic finance, or another highly analytical operating role. You're comfortable working with senior stakeholders, building executive-ready analyses, and turning data into actionable recommendations.

Government & Public Sector

You may come from state, local, or federal government as a budget analyst, program manager, project manager, strategy lead, chief of staff, or legislative staffer. You understand procurement cycles, appropriations, stakeholder management, and the operational realities of delivering programs in the public sector-particularly within identity, benefits, fraud prevention, tax administration, workforce, or citizen services.

Public Sector Consulting & GovTech

You may have advised or partnered with government agencies through organizations such as Deloitte, Booz Allen Hamilton, Accenture Federal Services, Guidehouse, ICF, or a GovTech company. Experience supporting RFPs, agency relationships, public sector modernization, procurement, or regulated industries is highly valued.

Digital Government & Civic Technology

You may come from organizations such as 18F, the U.S. Digital Service, state or local digital service teams, or civic technology organizations. This includes chiefs of staff, strategic operators, and program leaders who have helped scale organizations, improve operations, and coordinate across executive leadership, product, engineering, policy, and go-to-market teams.

Core Skills & Attributes

Regardless of your background, you'll be successful in this role if you bring:
  • 2-4 years of experience (or 1-2 years post-MBA) in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to create executive-ready presentations and recommendations.
  • Exceptional project management and stakeholder management skills across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across long, complex sales and procurement cycles.
  • Familiarity with government procurement, contracting, RFPs, or regulated industries is a plus.
  • High attention to detail, sound judgment, and a bias toward action.
  • Ability to bring structure to ambiguity while balancing strategic thinking with execution.

Direct public sector experience is a plus but not required. We're ultimately looking for curious, high-performing operators who are eager to learn, take ownership, and drive meaningful business impact.

What Success Looks Like at Socure

We hire curious builders who:
  • Take ownership and operate with a founder mentality.
  • Stay deeply customer-focused and connect their work to revenue and mission outcomes.
  • Thrive in ambiguity and move quickly to solve problems.
  • Continuously learn, iterate, and improve.
  • Understand how Product, Go-to-Market, Data Science, and Operations work together to drive results.
  • Build trust across teams while creating scalable, efficient ways of working.

Why This Role
  • Partner directly with the General Manager of Public Sector and senior GTM leadership.
  • Operate as the strategic right hand and chief of staff to a growing business segment.
  • Build broad experience across strategy, revenue, customer execution, finance, and operations.
  • Help shape one of Socure's fastest-growing, mission-driven businesses.
  • Develop deep expertise in public sector identity, fraud prevention, and digital modernization.
  • Position yourself for future leadership opportunities across strategy, operations, revenue, or general management.
