Full Job Description
RES is seeking a State Business Manager to lead sales, growth, operational execution, and financial performance across Tennessee and Georgia. This role is responsible for creating and executing a commercial vision for the market while aligning people, operations, strategy, and execution to achieve revenue, gross profit, cash, EBITDA, and broader business goals.

The ideal candidate is a business-minded leader with experience driving growth, developing teams, managing financial performance, and leading complex applied sciences, engineering, construction, or environmental restoration work. This leader will be expected to understand the market, build strong customer and partner relationships, develop a healthy pipeline of short- and long-term opportunities, and ensure teams are positioned to execute projects safely, profitably, and successfully.

What your day-to-day might look like

You will lead the Tennessee and Georgia business by developing and executing strategies that support regional and corporate goals. You will build a clear commercial vision for the market, identify growth opportunities, strengthen customer and channel partner relationships, and ensure the team is focused on the right mix of near-term and long-term opportunities.

You will own the financial plan for the business, including revenue, gross profit, cash, and EBITDA performance. This includes understanding the operating plan, knowing the numbers in detail, prioritizing resources effectively, and making decisions that support profitable growth and strong execution.

You will lead through others by building, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams. You will evaluate organizational structure, ensure the right people are in the right roles, develop front-line leadership, and create opportunities for team members to grow. You will partner with functional leaders to advance state and regional strategies and support key RES projects across regions when technical resources or construction capabilities are needed.

You will drive execution excellence by staying close to the work. This includes visiting projects, building relationships with teams and clients, developing first-hand visibility into project performance, and helping ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

You will also help shape and reinforce RES' culture by modeling our core values, promoting transparent communication, strengthening teamwork, encouraging accountability, and supporting strong recruiting, onboarding, and employee development practices.

We would like to talk to you if you have many of the following:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in applied sciences, engineering, construction management, business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in an applied sciences, engineering, construction, environmental restoration, or related business setting.
  • 5+ years of combined experience in project management, P&L ownership, financial management, and/or team leadership.
  • 3+ years of experience in a seller-doer capacity with business development responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience building customer relationships, developing strategic partnerships, and growing a business pipeline.
  • Experience leading teams through managers or front-line leaders.
  • Strong financial acumen, including the ability to understand, manage, and improve revenue, gross profit, cash, and EBITDA performance.
  • Ability to translate market insight into strategy and strategy into execution.
  • Willingness to travel within Tennessee, Georgia, and other regions as needed to support business development, team leadership, project execution, and customer engagement.

What will make you stand out
  • Experience leading a multi-state or multi-market business.
  • Strong understanding of environmental restoration, mitigation, water resources, ecological restoration, regulatory drivers, construction delivery, or related markets.
  • Proven success developing high-performing teams and future leaders.
  • Experience managing both commercial growth and operational execution in a project-based business.
  • A track record of building trust with clients, partners, regulators, and internal teams.
