Full Job Description
Job Description:

STAT is looking for a sharp, high-caliber reporter to join our first-rate team covering the pharma industry. While this reporter would break news and deliver quick-turn analyses, they would be expected to deliver big picture enterprise, including deeply reported company stories, profiles of top executives, narratives, and investigations that get inside the culture and internal machinations of global drugmakers. We're looking for impact - more coverage that will get the attention of those in the industry as well readers who track it. This reporter would collaborate both with our senior pharma writer, our national biotech reporter, and the rest of our biopharma team, along with other reporters whose beats frequently intersect with coverage of the industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Keep our coverage ahead of the curve by chronicling the ups and downs of the pharma industry and its key players, M&A, the relationship between drugmakers and Washington, and more.
  • Deliver deeply reported exclusive news stories, features, profiles, and other enterprise targets.
  • Cultivate trusted sources across pharma C-suites, Wall Street analyst firms, and academia.
  • Participate in our events, including occasionally as a moderator.
  • Be a key player on a top-notch team producing deep, provocative, and vital reporting of the life sciences industry.

Qualifications

  • A reporter with at least five years experience covering the biopharma industry and the business of health. A versatile writer prepared to dive in on a wide range of stories.
  • A self-starter, but also collaborative in nature. STAT thrives on a tight-knit, all-hands-on-deck culture and a strong team dynamic.
  • A willingness to adapt and be audience focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment
