What you'll do

The Staff Registered Nurse, Observation Unit manages goal directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Keeps patients and family informed regularly and prn.
  • Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs in order to provide quality care to assigned patients.
  • Develops, discusses and communicates a realistic problem list (plan of care) for each patient, in collaboration with family/significant other in order to address all identified needs.
  • Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.
  • Evaluates the identified problems, care provided, and patient's responses are reassessed in order to meet patient and family needs to assure overall quality of care delivered.
  • Maintains up to date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the health care team, in order to assure quality care.
  • Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development.
  • Functions as a role model for current and new staff.
  • Performs all responsibilities required by the emergency unit/critical care division as defined in the scope of service, to assure that the unique nature of the client is addressed. This includes but is not limited to the age of the client served.
  • Utilizes and follows national patient safety standards and develops practice standards that are evidence based.

What we need from you

Education:
  • 2 year / Associate Degree in Nursing, required
  • 4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred

Experience:
  • Minimum one year hospital medical/surgical experience, required
  • Critical care nursing experience, preferred

License/ Certification:
  • Valid NYS Registered Nurse license, required
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications within 6 months from date of hire, required
  • TNCC certification within 1 year of date of hire, preferred
  • ENPC and SANE certifications, preferred

Physical Requirements:
  • Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects
  • Occasional climbing, crouching, kneeling, and stooping, fit testing
  • Frequent typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, hearing, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, talking, walking, and visual acuity (color, depth, perception)

Hazards:
  • Occasional chemical, explosives, mechanical, and radiation/radiant energy
  • Frequent bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure

Working Conditions:
  • Occasional odors

We are also offering a sign-on bonus for this position! The bonus amounts are based on the position type and are listed below. Additional details and eligibility requirements will be discussed during the interview process. Current employees of Bassett Healthcare Network are not eligible and are encouraged to apply through the internal job board. At the discretion of leadership, this program may terminate or be suspended at any time.

Bonus Amount:

RN (excluding management) sign-on bonuses are awarded in the amount of $20,000 for full time
LPN sign on bonuses is awarded in the amount of $10,000 for full time

A.O. Fox Hospital, Bassett Medical Center, Cobleskill Regional Hospital, Little Falls Hospital, O'Connor Hospital, Valley Health Services and Valley Residential Services

Pay Range

This position is eligible for a sign on bonus up to:

USD $20,000.00
Pay Transparency

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement.

Pay Range Minimum:

USD $38.45/Hr.
Pay Range Maximum:

USD $51.29/Hr.
