About the TeamWe're looking for a Senior Product Designer to join Quizlet's Product Design team and own the experiences that turn first-time visitors into committed learners: sign up, onboarding, and activation.
For most learners, the first few minutes decide whether Quizlet becomes part of how they study. You'll shape that moment end to end, from the first landing on a flashcard set, to the first study session, and the habits that bring learners back.
You'll partner closely with designers, product management, and engineering across product and marketing. You'll have real ownership and visibility, and your work will be measured by clear outcomes like activation rate, early retention, and time to first value.
This role is ideal for a senior designer who loves growth problems, is energized by experimentation, and holds a high bar for craft in experiences used by millions of students.
About the RoleThis is a hybrid position in our San Francisco office. To support collaboration, we ask employees to be in the office at least two days a week: Wednesday and Thursday.
In this role, you will:Scope & Impact- Own end-to-end design of large, complex, multi-feature projects across the new-learner journey: sign up, onboarding, personalization, first study session, and early habit loops
- Take ownership of your projects and deliver them independently to a high standard of quality, from discovery through launch and iteration
- Drive measurable impact to activation and early retention metrics
- Connect onboarding work to the broader product, so first impressions lead naturally into Quizlet's core learning experiences
Communication, Influence, & Collaboration- Hold discussions with clear recommendations, while remaining open to other's ideas when it leads to a better learner outcome
- Debate trade-offs openly, such as speed to value versus personalization, or conversion versus long-term engagement
- Facilitate agreement on approach so projects move smoothly into successful implementation
Problem Solving & Execution- Deliver well-crafted solutions to complex problems, evaluating multiple options and trade-offs
- Use quantitative and qualitative insight (funnel analysis, A/B tests, UX research) to find friction and turn it into opportunities
- Design and iterate on experiments, then use results to inform the next round of work
- Apply current industry best practices and emerging technologies, including AI-powered personalization, to raise the bar for the team's work
- Continually innovate on how you use AI to your design process, elevating the bar for quality experiences delivered with speed, embracing the application of AI tools as you grow your technical knowledge
What you bring to the table:- 5+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio showing end-to-end ownership of complex, multi-feature projects
- Demonstrated experience designing onboarding, activation, growth, or conversion experiences at consumer scale.
- Strong interaction and visual design craft, plus systems thinking across web and native mobile
- Comfort with data: you define success metrics, read funnels and experiment results, and use them to shape decisions.
- A track record of working independently, proactively resolving issues, and driving alignment across product, engineering, and marketing partners
- Clear communication of design rationale, including leading discussions with recommendations and debating trade-offs
- Experience giving feedback that raises the quality of your peers' work
- Balance curiosity and thought leadership around current best practices and emerging technologies, including AI, and how they can make learning more personal
- Experience designing for students, education, or younger audiences is a plus, including familiarity with privacy and age-appropriate design
