Job SummaryThe Montefiore RN maintains standards of the practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and Nursing's Social Policy Statement.
The Registered Nurse actualizes the vision, mission, values, balanced scorecard performance measures for Montefiore Medical Center.
The RN participates in performance improvement/research activities; maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise; and demonstrates leadership skills. The RN demonstrates core and unit specific competencies based on the patient population served.
Essential Functions- Demonstrates leadership skills in the coordination and delivery of patient care.
- Systematically assesses the health care of patients/families and responses to care rendered.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills to problem solve and initiate clinical decision making.
- Evaluates patient progress toward health goals and modifies critical path or plan of care accordingly.
- Develops, coordinates and provides direct care for specific patient assignment.
- Provides a safe environment for patients/families.
- Provides comprehensive direct patient care to assigned patients.
- Communicates effectively with patient/family and members of the health care team.
- Demonstrates responsibility for maintaining competencies and participates in activities contributing to the growth and development of self, colleagues and the nursing profession.
- Is responsible and accountable for own practice.
- Integrates the standards of excellence into daily clinical practice.
Qualifications- Associate's degree required.
- BS BSN in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a hospital or clinic setting required.
- Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval systems.
- Effective English communication skills, both written and oral required.
- New York State License for Registered Professional Nurse and current registration or to practice in New York State as an RN required
- Certification in a specialty preferred
- Basic Life Support Training Certification required
- Infection Control Training certificate required
