About the RoleAnalog Devices is seeking a Staff Field Applications Engineer to provide strategic technical leadership for a major automotive technology customer in the San Francisco Bay Area and to support additional regional priorities as needed. The role serves as a trusted technical advisor, connecting customer system requirements with differentiated ADI technologies and solutions.
The successful candidate will work closely with customer architecture, hardware, software, and validation teams on complex, fast-moving development programs. The position requires strong system-level expertise, hands-on problem-solving capability, and the ability to lead technical engagements from early concept and architecture definition through design, validation, and production.
Key Responsibilities• Serve as the lead FAE and system-level technical authority for a highly strategic automotive customer, guiding engagements from concept through production.
• Build trusted relationships with customer engineering teams and translate system requirements into differentiated ADI solutions.
• Influence architecture and design decisions through technical consultation, solution proposals, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept development.
• Provide hands-on design-in support, including design reviews, simulation, laboratory evaluation, debugging, validation, and issue resolution.
• Coordinate cross-functional ADI resources and communicate customer requirements, market trends, competitive insights, and product gaps to internal stakeholders.
• Partner with product teams to influence roadmaps and deliver technical presentations, workshops, demonstrations, and training.
• Support additional strategic automotive customers and regional priorities as business needs require
Required Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related discipline
• Typically 8 or more years of relevant field applications, product applications, system design, semiconductor, or customer-facing engineering experience
• Proven success leading strategic customer engagements from architecture through production
• Strong electrical engineering fundamentals and board- or system-level design experience
• Hands-on experience with laboratory measurement, characterization, debugging, and root-cause analysis
• Ability to translate customer requirements into solution strategies and execution plans
• Demonstrated cross-functional leadership, influence, and clear communication with technical and executive audiences
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced customer environment
• Ability to engage regularly with customer teams in the San Francisco Bay Area
• Willingness to travel up to 25%, including occasional overnight travel
Additional Qualifications• Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related discipline
• Experience supporting automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, semiconductor customers, or advanced mobility platforms
• System expertise in mixed-signal signal chains, power management, battery management, sensing, embedded systems, high-speed interfaces, connectivity, timing, or isolation
• Knowledge of vehicle architectures, in-vehicle networking, software-defined vehicles, ADAS, electrification, or functional safety
• Experience with embedded development, system debugging, prototypes, evaluation platforms, or reference designs
• Familiarity with automotive development, qualification, and product lifecycle requirements
• Ability to mentor engineers, set technical direction, and build trusted senior-level relationships

The expected wage range for a new hire into this position is $163,530 to $224,854.
- Actual wage offered may vary depending on work location, experience, education, training, external market data, internal pay equity, or other bona fide factors.
- This position qualifies for a discretionary performance-based bonus which is based on personal and company factors.
