Full Job Description
Primary Function of the Position

The Staff Software Development Engineer brings a key contribution to a team responsible for the architectural design and implementation of software to support novel electrosurgical systems for surgery being developed by the Sunnyvale Engineering group.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead a small team through the technical development of embedded software for electrosurgical devices.
  • Develop software applications for electrosurgical and robotic products for minimally invasive surgery.
  • Develop software and firmware in object-oriented C++, C, Verilog and Python for embedded systems.
  • Develop software to acquire, process, store, and analyze energy data in real-time.
  • Develop software to support manufacturing and test teams.
  • Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Independently solve assigned problems.


Qualifications

Required Education, Skills & Experience
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years of experience and a Master's degree; or equivalent experience
  • Experience designing complete software solutions for embedded systems using C/C++ language on bare-metal and Linux based embedded systems
  • Working knowledge of peripherals commonly used on embedded systems such as ADCs, DACs, PWM and waveform generation and serial communications (I2C, SPI, RS232, CAN)
  • Proven experience with hands-on hardware bring-up and collaboration, utilizing electronic bench equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
  • Strong knowledge of control theory and experience developing and tuning control systems
  • Experience in the medical device industry, familiarity with standards 60601 and 62304 is strongly preferred
