Full Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to drive flight software delivery for the OISL program. In this role, you will be the central coordination point for flight software builds, integration, test, and deployment across multiple hardware and software systems, including the spacecraft flight computer, GNC, networking, and optical subsystems. You will work at the intersection of embedded software engineering, systems integration, and cross-program coordination to ensure OISL flight software ships on time with high quality and at scale. Specifically, you will support the design, implementation, and release of software systems that control, monitor, and manage space and ground optical terminals.

This is a high-visibility role that requires deep technical fluency in software systems, strong program management fundamentals, and the ability to operate across organizational boundaries in a fast-paced, first-of-its-kind environment.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities

Support the end-to-end delivery lifecycle for flight software - driving release schedules, integration test campaigns, and deployment coordination across concurrent programs.

Collaborate with Software Development Managers as a peer to drive integrated delivery, resolve competing priorities, and maintain accountability across all active workstreams.

Coordinate cross-program feature development with Technical Program Managers and hardware teams - aligning interfaces, managing dependencies, and removing blockers.

Build and maintain program roadmaps, schedules, and resource plans; identify critical path risks and trade-offs and drive decisions to resolution.

Define, track, and mitigate software program risks and cross-team integration risks with clear ownership and escalation paths.

Partner with mission operations, network operations, and cross-functional stakeholders to align priorities, remove blockers, and protect team focus.

Deliver clear program status reporting across scope, schedule, quality, and risk for leadership reviews and business cadences.

About the team

You will join a multi-disciplinary team of top-notch engineers whose work spans an unusually wide aperture: embedded flight software running on satellites in orbit, cloud-based systems powering mission and network operations, automation frameworks that keep a growing constellation healthy, and AI-driven capabilities that make our optical links smarter with every orbit. We collaborate closely with optical, electrical, firmware, opto-mechanical, and operations teams - and with partner organizations including Mission Operations and Optical Network Operations - to deliver one of the most advanced optical communication systems ever built.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

- 5+ years of experience managing programs involving critical systems, embedded systems, or flight software

- Experience driving cross-functional coordination across hardware and software teams

- Experience with software build, integration, and release management processes

- Experience managing program schedules, roadmaps, and resource planning

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent

- Experience in aerospace, satellite, or space systems programs

- Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), embedded software development lifecycles, and hardware-software integration

- Familiarity with optical communications, networking protocols, or satellite constellation operations

- Experience managing programs with concurrent development generations (e.g., block upgrades, next-gen architectures)
