Sr. Technical Manager

Location: Whiting Mill, Neenah Mill and Neenah Converting Center

Description:

The Senior Technical Manager is responsible for maintaining customer satisfaction expectations for three of Mativ's specialty paper and packaging facilities, as well as evaluating, prioritizing and executing improvement strategies. This on-site position can be based out of either Neenah, WI or Stevens Point, WI, but will require regular travel between the sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote a culture of safety and quality by modeling strong leadership behavior as part of the Whiting Mill, Neenah Mill, and Neenah Converting Center site leadership teams.

  • Provide technical expertise to modify existing mill processes and/or by adding new processes that will improve quality and increase profitability.

  • Address customer complaints, including ensuring thorough investigations, assignment of corrective and preventative actions, and communication to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Attain new business through the development of superior customer relationships and demonstrated understanding of our assets' capabilities. Maintain a thorough understanding of our performance during new product trials and a willingness to share information that helps the team advance its skillset and capabilities.

  • Protect Mativ's business by complying with any external certifications, performing audits and conducting routine reviews to manage risks and drive continuous improvement. Serve as the central point of contact for multi-site certificates.

  • Support the evaluation, approval and monitoring of third party contract manufacturing partners and suppliers.

  • Support the evaluation and onboarding of new business and product changes by meeting all quality and regulatory requirements, such as quality agreements, product specifications, validations, and supplier and supplied material qualification.

  • Execute and develop capital projects necessary to sustain or improve new and existing products.

  • Ensure the effective implementation and ongoing execution of a Quality Management System.

  • Act as the key liaison between Sales/Customer Service and Operations

  • Provide oversight to site-specific technical and quality resources in adhering to product specification processes, nonconforming product processes, as well as proper laboratory and testing management.

  • Develop a Quality Improvement Plan to elevate customer satisfaction and drive down the cost of poor quality.

  • Responsible for developing and mentoring direct reports through setting goals, conducting performance discussions and managing team workload.

  • Contribute to the global quality organization by developing, implementing and sharing best practices in a systematic and scalable manner.


Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or another technical field.

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a manufacturing quality and or technical leadership roles.

  • Ability to travel to customer sites if requested.


Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or another technical field with a minimum of 10 years' experience, with at least 3 in a manufacturing quality or technical role.

  • Lean Six Sigma or ASQ Certification a plus.

  • ASQ Certified Quality Auditor/Manager a plus.


Competencies

  • Strong problem solving, quantitative, analytical skills.

  • Strong skills in various applications including Minitab, Microsoft, and ERP systems

  • Strong leadership skills, including change management

  • Experience with Quality Management Systems, such as ISO 9001

  • Experience with more highly regulated Management Systems, such as Cosmetic and/or Automotive
