Job Responsibilities:

Mission of the Position:

Supplier Quality Development Engineer (SQDE) ensures process standardization with respect to launch programs by supporting Supplier Constraint Management and SQDE projects principally in Magna Powertrain (MPT) North America (NA) Driveline Systems. The individual will ensure compliance while focusing on production controls, logistics, and flawless launch initiatives for MPT NA Driveline System Programs.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct various supplier related audits on potential, new and current suppliers to Magna Powertrain: Supplier Capability Assessments, Run-at-Rates, Manufacturing Capability Audits, Control Plan Audits, etc., and take necessary actions as required.

- Monitor supplier performance (Incidents, PPMs, COPQ) and develop / implement effective action plans to improve poor performing suppliers.

- Ability to identify supplier improvements (process, quality system, etc.) and ensure effective actions are taken to improve KMIs.

- Support supplier initiated change requests.

- Support manufacturing locations on supplier related performance issues (conduct 8D verification, review containment process).

- Support new program launches, supplier localization, resourcing projects, etc.

- Monitor and confirm supplier achievement in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

- Ensure the supplier is consistently achieving First Time Quality (FTQ) targets.

- Assess supplier staff turnover rate and its potential impact on quality and delivery.

- Validate the supplier staffing strategy to ensure sufficient and competent staffing levels.

- Confirm the availability and adequacy of tools and equipment at the supplier's site.

- Verify the effectiveness and timeliness of the supplier's maintenance practices.

- Guarantee the supplier's awareness and adherence to Magna's specific requirements.

- Oversee the supplier's on-time delivery performance.

- Confirm the supplier's use of Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and its impact on performance.

- Validate the supplier's implementation and management of 5S principles.

- Support and adhere to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to the established quality management system (IATF).

- Drive the development of new technologies to improve quality, efficiency and reduce cost.

Requirements and Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree required.

- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical) preferred.

- Self-motivated, drives improvement, strong communication skills.

- 3 to 10 years of experience in Supplier Quality Development.

- 6 to 10 years of experience in Aluminum Castings, Iron Castings, Forgings, Electronics, Stampings, Powder Metal, Fasteners, or Injection Molding is a plus.

- 2 to 4 years of experience in Plant Operations.

- Experience in Metallurgical/Metals background.

- Proficient in problem solving (8D, 5-Why, Drill Deep and Wide, Shainin, Six Sigma, etc.).

- Manufacturing experience in molding, stamping, assembly, rubber extrusions, and plating.

- Proficient in AIAG core tools: PPAP, APQP, Control Plans, FMEA, MSA and SPC.

- Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

- Understanding of Industrial Engineering principles/tools including: VSM, Takt-Time, OEE, Maintenance KPIs, Plant Layout, Material Flow, Safety and HR.

- Understanding of production controls and logistics.

- Customer specific requirements/certifications: VDA 6.3 & 6.5, BIQS, ANPQP, IATF.
