Senior Staff Electrical Manufacturing Test EngineerWe are looking for a talented Senior Staff Electrical Test Engineer to support the Atlas program, helping to transform groundbreaking research prototypes into reliable, scalable systems for manufacturing and field deployment
About the Role:As a Senior Staff Electrical Test Engineer on the Atlas program, you will lead the design, deployment, and debug of manufacturing test systems for our next-generation robotics. You'll own test coverage across cable/harness, PCBA, and electromechanical assemblies for our in-house pilot production, building highly reliable and scalable test equipment built to support long-term growth. Partnering with cross-functional engineering teams, you will establish technical standards for factory acceptance testing to eliminate defects before they reach the field as we scale from R&D to production.
Responsibilities:- Act as a technical liaison to manufacturing and production teams and provide test engineering support to drive continuous improvement for test method/machine related issues.
- Provide design for test (DFT) recommendations for test coverage, fault isolation capability, and failure trends.
- Document test procedures, fixtures, configurations, and best practices.
- Design, specify, and commission PCBA functional test fixtures.
- Design, build, and debug hi-pot / dielectric withstand test stations.
- Debug existing test systems while proactively evolving and future-proofing next-generation electrical testers.
- Provide project management and design support for outsourced test development.
- Analyze test results and provide feedback to improve product quality and testing processes.
- Work with quality and process engineering teams to support failure analysis of test failures to drive root cause corrective actions.
- Support station duplication, maintenance, and deployments for repair and service teams.
- Train both internal and external manufacturing in the use and support of production test equipment, test programs, and debug processes.
- Provide short-term sustaining support on existing lines, identifying root-causes for test escapes, correlation issues, and fixture failures, and driving fixes.
- Mentor other team engineers and technicians.
Qualifications:- BS or MS in Electrical/Electromechanical Engineering or equivalent and 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and debugging hi-pot/dielectric withstand test setups.
- Hands-on experience with bed-of-nails or clamshell-style PCBA test fixtures.
- Experience with common test instrumentation: power supplies, DMMs, DAQ hardware.
- Demonstrated ability to take a new product from design handoff through validated, production-ready test coverage (NPI experience).
- Strong electrical debug skills. Is comfortable tracing intermittent or low-repeatability failures to root cause.
- Test software development using programming languages such as Python or C++.
- Able to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings and apply fundamental knowledge to analyze designs.
- Strong communication and technical documentation skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work in an ambiguous environment with minimal supervision.
- Experience with 3D modeling software (Catia, Solidworks, NX, etc)
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout software using Altium or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in robotics, aerospace, precision actuators, or high-performance electromechanical systems.
- Experience with test executive frameworks (e.g., LabVIEW, TestStand).
- Experience with PLM systems such as Arena or Enovia for revision control and documentation management.
- Experience with PCB design in Altium
- Familiarity with SPC, yield tracking, or MES integration.
- Experience working with external suppliers, contract manufacturers, or design firms on tooling and test requirements.
- Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Experience with root cause analysis supported by data analytics.
