Job Responsibilities:

General Job Duties:

  • To exhibit an objective, fair and professional attitude that exemplifies the principles outlined in The MAGNA Employee's Charter to maintain a positive and productive workplace.
  • To follow Decostar policies and display conduct expected of Decostar employees as described in the employee handbook.
  • To follow safety rules of Decostar and work in a manner that is conducive to maintaining a safe and healthful workplace.
  • To Understand the employee's rights under the OSHA Act, EEOC, FLSA and do not allow for discrimination against any employee exercising their rights.
  • Always use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to set good workplace standards and ensure all employees maintain those standards.
  • To follow safety rules of Decostar and work in a manner that is conducive to maintaining a safe and healthful workplace including: training of new employees, reporting unsafe acts or conditions and correcting or commending health and safety performance.
  • Ensure that all accidents or injuries are reported immediately and actively participate in the accident investigation and completion of all open action items.
  • Ensure that you follow company policies and business objectives in the daily supervision of the operations of the company.
  • To exhibit teamwork and leadership skills and actively participate in team activities in a positive working environment.
  • To demonstrate problem solving skills in a work environment that is striving for continuous improvement.
  • To support all customer quality standards as well as the standards of Decostar.
  • To perform daily cross-functional job assignments as required and per the department's established procedures and work instructions.
  • Have knowledge of general workplace health and safety in regards to the general public and visitors to Decostar.
  • Ensure a spirit of respect, cooperation, ethical conduct and fair dealing in all our operations between internal and external customers and suppliers.


Specific Job Duties:

  • Manage health, safety and ergonomic, activities through strong leadership, communication, motivation and direction of safety staff (if applicable).
  • Guide the development and implementation of Health, Safety and Ergonomics policies and programs.
  • Manage Safety Training and work cross-functionally with Training Coordinator to schedule in-class sessions for employees.
  • Develop and administer New Hire Orientation Safety Training as needed.
  • Investigate and maintain records for all work related injuries and/or illnesses, provide statistical analysis, and assist department management in the development of effective health and safety counter-measures to continuously improve safety objectives.
  • Manage workplace violence and behavior based safety program.
  • Manage noise monitoring program and coordinate hearing tests for applicable employees.
  • Manage Respirator Program and coordinate pulmonary functional and fit test for applicable employees.
  • Work cross-functionally with HR to schedule Health events.
  • Enter injuries, property damage, etc, in HSELinx portal.
  • Responsible to implement and lead ISO 45001.
  • Ensure ergonomic and safety documentation for program launches is completed in a timely manner.
  • Manage the Ergonomics Program. Coordinate assessments and ensure CAPAS are implemented.
  • Ensure legislative compliance with OSHA, ADA, Fire Codes, and serve as a liaison with area OSHA representatives.
  • Serve as co-chair on the Joint Health and Safety Committee and help to coordinate activities, recommendations, and accountability of issues identified by the JHSC.
  • Conduct routine workplace safety inspections and establish measurable standards from which further recommendations (continuous improvement) can be made, with effective follow-up.
  • Coordinate emergency evacuation procedures, training, and practice drills.
  • Direct management team relating to HSE issues.
  • Keep the EHS Manager, HR Manager, and General Manager up-to-date on matters relating to health and safety and ergonomics and other areas of human resources.
  • Perform other duties as requested.


Skills and Experience Required:
  • Minimum of 10+ years Health and Safety, Ergonomics, experience, preferably in an Injection Molding and Painting facility. / Sr. Designation requires minimum of 5+ years of experience along with advanced responsibilities assigned
  • Demonstrated strength with analytical/problem solving, oral and written communication, and organizational skills.
  • Must have working knowledge of Industrial Ergonomics.
  • Must have strong computer skills in a Windows platform.
  • Experience in computer skills such as Microsoft Word or Excel
  • Fluent in English (reading and writing).
  • Must have demonstrated leadership experience along with strong interpersonal and communication skills


Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene or a related degree.


Certifications:
  • OSHA 10
  • OSHA 30

Physical Requirements:
• This position requires a person to have the ability to perform work while sitting for up to eight (8) hours a day
  • Requires the ability to walk daily through plant floor operations and spend up to 2-4 hours at a time on the plant floor in performing safety activities.
• The ability to lift up to 10 pounds on an infrequent basis.
• Good vision at a close distance is required.
• Must be capable of performing repetitive motion above and below shoulder height for up to eight (8) hours a day.

Training Requirements:
  • You will receive training to perform your job on an on-going basis concurrent with Decostar business operations. Training areas will include safety, quality, continuous improvement and other job specific training that is determined to be an essential part of your job and Decostar business operations.
