Full Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Senior Project Engineer oversees capital projects while managing and monitoring all aspects of the project. He/she is responsible for planning, designing, budgeting, installing, managing contractors and vendors on assigned capital projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
  • Reports to the Director of Engineering.
  • Report regularly on project status, opportunities for improvement, budget status, as well as problems that could significantly affect cost or schedule to the Director of Engineering.
  • Provide project leadership to achieve the highest levels of safety, cost control, quality, engineering, procurement, construction, and team dynamics.
  • Knowledgeable with estimating and establishing a project budget, job cost tracking, and closeout.
  • Prepares, schedules, coordinates, monitors, and manages various assigned engineering projects that involve several different disciplines of Engineering.
  • Serve as project manager for planned and unplanned responsibilities consisting of scope development, detailed design, budget development, contractor selection, and project execution oversight.
  • Develop scope of work documents, cost estimates, and schedules for multiple capital projects simultaneously.
  • Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Conducts cost analysis, estimating expected costs for the project.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, industry, contractual, and company regulations, standards, specifications, and best practices.
  • Interact daily with internal customers to interpret their needs and requirements and representing them in the field.
  • Develop strong working relationships with co-workers, facility managers, consultants, contractors, etc.
  • Makes onsite visits to coordinate with contractors throughout the development and implementation of projects.
  • Inform Project Team and contractors promptly of any construction schedule changes, and work closely with all relevant project stakeholders to ensure requirements are met.
  • Utilize approved Consulting Engineers for stamped drawings and technical details.
  • Identify and develop engineering plans for sustainability.


SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • None. This is an individual contributor role with required competencies: Functional/Technical Skills, Action Oriented, Problem Solving, Learning on the Fly, and Interpersonal Savvy


EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management is preferred.
  • Or related field.
  • 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree


EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  • 5 years of project management within the industry or related fields
  • Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Proficient with Autocad, BIM, and Navisworks
  • Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written, ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, contractors, and other engineers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects, planning skills, and high attention to detail
  • Must be able to manage time wisely and balance workload
  • Must have strong leadership and interpersonal abilities


SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
  • Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be willing to travel weekly
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work in multiple environments (cold, humid, dry, dusty)
