Full Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW: As a Sr. Project Engineer at LJA Transportation , you will provide technical and engineering support while performing traffic and transportation systems analysis, planning, and design. You will manage and design traffic signal, signing, striping, illumination, ITS, and traffic control plan projects while supporting project performance related to scope, schedule, budget, and staff. You will also prepare traffic studies, support business development and project management activities, and mentor team members.

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:
  • Providing technical and engineering support, including technical proposals and cost estimates
  • Performing traffic and transportation systems analysis, planning, and design
  • Determining project feasibility based on analysis of collected data
  • Managing project performance to scope, schedule, and budget
  • Managing the performance of project staff and providing technical oversight across multiple concurrent projects
  • Managing and designing traffic signal projects, including signal timing, signing, striping, illumination, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and traffic control plans for TxDOT, counties, and local municipalities
  • Preparing traffic studies, including traffic impact analyses for private clients, level of service analyses, travel demand modeling, signal warrant studies, and roadway safety studies
  • Performing and overseeing QA/QC reviews of traffic engineering plans, studies, analyses, and technical deliverables
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations of the group, including business development activities and project management responsibilities
  • Mentoring engineers, EITs, and direct reports while providing technical guidance and conveying knowledge to others
  • Collaborating with client agencies, including TxDOT, counties, local municipalities, and other public-sector clients

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in the Traffic and Transportation field
  • Experience completing engineering studies, including traffic impact analysis, signal warrant studies, and traffic management plans for private clients
  • Experience using SYNCHRO

IDEALLY, YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE:
  • Experience with MicroStation ORD
  • Experience with large-scale TxDOT projects
  • Advanced skills in specialized software programs
  • Technical training experience
  • Experience using CORSIM, HCS, Trans CAD, VISSIM, and AGI32
  • Proven experience handling multiple tasks and deadlines
