Role Summary
The Sr. Product Owner, Advice Digital Experience, leads the digital product roadmap and execution for T. Rowe Price’s Retirement Advisory Services (RAS) and ActivePlus Portfolios. This role is accountable for turning business priorities and client needs into well-defined digital product capabilities, prioritized backlogs, and measurable releases that improve how clients enroll in, use, and engage with T. Rowe Price advice solutions.
The Sr. Product Owner leads and develops product owners and sets a high bar for product management discipline across the team. The role works closely with technology, design, analytics, advice offer and delivery partners to make timely product decisions, maintain delivery readiness, manage tradeoffs, and ensure teams are focused on the highest-value outcomes.
In This Role, You Will:
- Own and maintain the digital product roadmap and prioritized backlog for RAS and ActivePlus Portfolios, translating business objectives into sequenced capabilities, epics, features, and release plans.
- Define product requirements and acceptance criteria with enough clarity for design and engineering teams to build, test, and release effectively; ensure upcoming work is refined, decision-ready, and staged ahead of development.
- Prioritize across client impact, business value, data, technical effort, risk, dependencies, and team capacity; make timely tradeoff decisions and adjust sequencing as new information emerges.
- Lead cross-functional product delivery from concept through launch and iteration, partnering with technology, design, analytics, operations, marketing, Legal, Risk, and Compliance to resolve blockers and keep work moving.
- Lead and develop product managers/product owners, establish clear ownership and product-management expectations, and use product metrics and stakeholder feedback to hold the team accountable for outcomes and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Product Vision & Strategy — Develop and maintain a clear vision and outcome-based roadmap for the advice digital experience, connecting client needs, market and competitive insights, business strategy, technology capabilities, and the regulatory environment to a coherent long-term direction.
- Roadmap & Backlog Management — Convert business priorities into an actionable digital product roadmap and continuously prioritized backlog. Maintain clear sequencing across initiatives and ensure near-term work is sufficiently defined, sized, and ready for delivery.
- Requirements & Product Decisions — Break complex initiatives into capabilities, epics, features, user stories, business rules, and acceptance criteria. Drive the decisions needed to remove ambiguity, manage scope, and give delivery teams a clear definition of what must be built and why.
- Delivery & Release Execution — Partner closely with engineering, design, QA, advice teams, and business teams throughout refinement, build, testing, launch, and post-release stabilization. Identify dependencies and blockers early, manage tradeoffs, and maintain accountability to committed outcomes and timelines.
- Product Team Leadership — Manage and coach product managers/product owners, set standards for backlog quality and product execution, clarify ownership, and provide direct feedback. Communicate priorities, delivery health, risks, and decisions to senior stakeholders and create alignment across teams without relying on formal authority.
Skills & Capabilities
- Strong digital product management fundamentals across roadmap planning, backlog management, prioritization, requirements definition, release planning, launch, and post-release optimization.
- Advanced Product Owner execution skills, including breaking initiatives into epics/features/stories, writing clear acceptance criteria, leading refinement, maintaining build-ready backlogs, managing scope, and supporting agile delivery teams.
- Product analytics and decision-making skills; able to define results, interpret digital funnel and behavioral data, evaluate feature performance, diagnose problems, and use evidence to prioritize iteration and investment.
- Technical fluency sufficient to work effectively with engineering and architecture on APIs, integrations, data flows, platform constraints, nonfunctional requirements, vendors, and delivery dependencies.
- Strong people leadership and stakeholder management skills; able to coach product talent, delegate ownership, give actionable feedback, influence senior partners, resolve competing priorities, and create accountability across cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience; and
- 8+ years of total relevant work experience, including significant experience in digital product management, product ownership, digital experience, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience owning digital products or journeys from roadmap and backlog development through requirements, delivery, launch, and ongoing optimization.
- Demonstrated experience prioritizing complex backlogs, breaking initiatives into buildable increments, and making tradeoffs across business value, client impact, technical feasibility, risk, and capacity.
- Experience leading cross-functional delivery with engineering, design, analytics, operations, and business partners and communicating product decisions and delivery health to senior stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Experience in wealth management, fintech, investment advisory, financial planning, retirement, managed accounts, or another complex financial-services domain.
- Experience managing digital products that combine self-service experiences with human- or advisor-supported interactions.
- Experience leading or directly coaching product managers/product owners.
- Experience using digital analytics, funnel metrics, experimentation, or product performance data to prioritize and optimize digital experiences.
- Experience working with modern web or mobile platforms, APIs/integrations, third-party vendors, and enterprise technology ecosystems.
