Job TitleSr. Product Manager, Restaurants (KDS)
What does a Senior Product Manager do at Clover? We're looking for a Senior Product Manager to own our Kitchen Display System (KDS) - the mission-critical operational engine powering the heart of the restaurant. You will lead the strategy, user experience, and technical infrastructure that orchestrates high-volume kitchen operations in real time.
Working at the intersection of physical kitchen ergonomics and distributed software, you will collaborate closely with engineering, UX design, operations, and merchant-facing teams to transform chaotic back-of-house environments into models of speed, coordination, and efficiency.
What you will do:- Own Kitchen Routing & Orchestration: Define and drive the core engine of restaurant production, optimizing real-time order routing, cook load balancing, and multi-station synchronization across prep, cook, and expo lines.
- Master Complex Kitchen Operations: Translate physical kitchen workflows, high-heat environments, and split-second staff decisions into intuitive, glanceable interfaces that optimize throughput and line ergonomics for both single-unit independent restaurants and multi-location enterprise brands.
- Drive Merchant-Centric Strategy: Champion a merchant-first, customer-first approach to set an efficiency-driven roadmap that reduces ticket times, minimizes food waste, and lowers operating costs while aligning directly with Clover's broader growth objectives.
- Architect Scalable Data & Hardware Foundations: Partner with engineering to design robust, fault-tolerant architectures and flexible routing schemas adaptable to diverse hardware setups, dynamic printer/screen pairings, and bespoke kitchen layouts.
- Deliver Future-Proof Back-of-House Innovation: Ground immediate feature delivery in deep operator empathy while pioneering next-gen kitchen intelligence, including predictive cook pacing, dynamic prep-time adjustments, and automated order throttling during peak periods.
- Cross-Functional Execution: Partner daily with engineering, UX, hardware teams, QA, sales, and customer support to ship resilient software that reliably runs uninterrupted in high-stakes, fast-paced restaurant shifts.
- Measure & Iterate: Establish clear operational benchmarks (e.g., ticket completion time, bump-bar latency, order accuracy, fulfillment rate) and translate back-of-house analytics into actionable product iterations.
- Executive Communication: Clearly articulate roadmap vision, technical tradeoffs, and measurable business outcomes to leadership, cross-functional partners, and merchant advisory boards.
What you need to have:- 5+ years of product management experience, with dedicated experience in restaurant technology, POS, Kitchen Display Systems (KDS), or mission-critical real-time ordering systems.
- Deep restaurant domain empathy: Demonstrated understanding of back-of-house operational realities, station routing, prep flows, expeditor handoffs, and multi-channel order ingestion (dine-in, online ordering, third-party delivery).
- Technical architecture depth: Proven track record collaborating with engineers on distributed real-time data systems, event-driven architectures, local network resilience, and hardware/software integration.
- Ergonomic & operational UX focus: Experience designing interfaces optimized for high-stress, glance-and-touch environments (touchscreens, bump bars, auditory cues, high-contrast displays).
- Data-driven prioritization: Strong analytical ability to define throughput and operational metrics, evaluate trade-offs, and tie technical investments directly to merchant ROI.
- Exceptional stakeholder communication: Ability to build alignment across diverse groups, from line cooks and general managers to executive leadership and systems engineers.
What is nice to have:- Experience in restaurant tech, retail tech, or hospitality
- Familiarity with menu/catalog systems at scale (multi-location, multi-language, multi-currency)
- Experience with A/B testing and experimentation frameworks
