As a Senior Planner, you will be responsible for leading project planning, scheduling, progress measurement, and schedule performance across complex engineering and construction projects. You will work closely with Project Controls, Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and external contractors to develop, maintain, and optimize project schedules that support successful project execution.

In this role, you will lead planning and scheduling activities, ensure adherence to Hatch project controls standards and best practices, and provide guidance and mentorship to members of the planning team.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop project planning and scheduling personnel.
  • Assign and manage planning resources to meet project objectives and deliverables.
  • Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to strengthen team capabilities.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance work environment.


Project Planning & Schedule Development
  • Develop, maintain, and manage project master schedules throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Facilitate planning workshops and schedule review meetings with project stakeholders.
  • Establish project baselines and critical path schedules.
  • Develop and maintain Level 1, 2, and 3 schedules as required.
  • Identify and incorporate key engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and vendor milestones.
  • Support schedule risk assessments and integrate approved mitigation measures and contingencies into project plans.
  • Maintain schedule basis documentation and planning assumptions.


Schedule Monitoring & Controls
  • Monitor project performance against approved baselines and identify schedule risks, trends, and opportunities.
  • Maintain and optimize project schedules to support project objectives.
  • Generate schedule updates, progress reports, look-ahead schedules, and performance metrics.
  • Monitor critical and near-critical paths and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain resource, labor, and commodity loading profiles.
  • Establish and monitor Required-on-Site (ROS) dates for equipment, materials, and contractor activities.


Progress Measurement & Reporting
  • Develop and maintain progress measurement systems and reporting processes.
  • Produce progress curves, earned value metrics, and schedule performance reports.
  • Collect, validate, and analyze progress information from engineering, procurement, construction, vendors, and contractors.
  • Provide regular reporting and recommendations to the Project Controls Manager and project leadership team.


Change Management
  • Assess schedule impacts resulting from approved project changes.
  • Update and optimize schedules to reflect approved scope, schedule, and execution changes.
  • Identify areas of potential concern and recommend mitigation strategies.


Procurement & Contractor Interface
  • Provide scheduling input into procurement strategies, bid documentation, and contractor reporting requirements.
  • Participate in bid reviews and evaluations from a planning and scheduling perspective.
  • Review contractor and vendor schedules and provide recommendations to project leadership.
  • Monitor vendor and contractor performance against contractual schedule commitments.


Safety
  • Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to safety and Hatch's safety culture.
  • Promote safe work practices and proactively identify and address safety concerns.
  • Support behavioral-based safety initiatives and incident reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Hatch safety procedures, standards, and protocols.


Qualifications & Experience

Required
  • Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • 8-12+ years of planning and scheduling experience within a multidisciplinary project environment.
  • Previous experience leading or supervising planning and scheduling teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of project planning, scheduling, and project controls methodologies.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6.
  • Strong understanding of engineering, procurement, and construction project delivery.
  • Knowledge of estimating, cost control, risk management, and project management principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.


Preferred
  • Experience supporting large EPCM, mining, infrastructure, energy, or industrial projects.
  • Familiarity with contract administration and commercial project controls.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.


Base salary range: $115,000 - $165,000
