Overview

National multidisciplinary design firm is seeking a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their California, Mid-West or East Coast office. In this role, you will work directly with the architecture studio and other engineering disciplines on a variety of project types across the nation. The team is seeking professionals with expert knowledge of applicable codes and regulations; extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering systems application, sustainable design and resiliency planning; excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with both internal and external clients to provide high-value performance solutions on projects across the country.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for HVAC engineering design including: calculating heating and cooling loads, select equipment, layout duct and piping, create and edit project details, and write and edit project engineering specifications
  • Responsible for plumbing systems design including calculating capacities and loads, laying out piping systems and details, and editing project specifications
  • Assist in defining and guiding project sustainability goals and delivering systems designs to achieve them
  • Develop work plans and guide staff to deliver project designs according to available budgets
  • Participate in team mentoring activities
  • Engage in community focused outreach along with fellow leaders
  • Participate in design review meetings and workshops
  • Resolve a variety of complex design challenges including conflicting Owner and project requirements, application of different system types, or challenging field conditions
  • Research design options and document findings for the project team
  • Assure drawings and designs are in accordance with local codes and design standards
  • Coordination with architectural and engineering disciplines as applicable
  • Assist with project pursuits and fee development (proposal writing, interviews and strategic review of project scope)


Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • 15+ years of consulting engineering experience with emphasis on HVAC/plumbing design for healthcare, laboratory, commercial, municipal, institutional and government facilities
  • Experience in delivering projects with LEED, Well, Green Globes, or similar sustainable certifications
  • Experience with leading teams on multiple projects concurrently
  • Professional Engineer registration recognized by a state licensing board
  • Knowledge in building controls is desired but not required
  • Revit, BIM, Trane/Trace, IES and Microsoft Office skills required
