Full Job Description
ABOUT THE TEAM

Anduril's Manufacturing team seeks a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. The Core Tech Manufacturing Team rapidly iterates and builds cutting-edge defense hardware, specializing in critical Core Technologies such as battery integration, advanced actuation systems, and energetics for Anduril's sea and air vehicle platforms. This role encompasses the full manufacturing value-chain: Design for Manufacturability (DFM), specialized tooling, process optimization for precision mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical assembly, vendor management, quality planning, and comprehensive documentation for high-reliability hardware.

Ideal candidates demonstrate holistic ownership in solving complex technical challenges with creative, physical solutions, personally manufactured or overseen, within fast-paced, resource-limited settings.

As Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Core Technologies, you will drive the end-to-end manufacturing development and production of high-performance hardware across critical Core Technology domains, ensuring robust operation and reliability in challenging sea and air vehicle environments. This role requires deep expertise in DFM for complex mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical systems, precision assembly techniques, and rigorous test development for critical components. If you are a hands-on engineer who thrives on complex technical challenges, delivering elegant manufacturing solutions, and is passionate about mission-critical hardware, then this role is for you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Leverage expertise in New Product Introduction (NPI) to seamlessly transition complex electromechanical systems from prototype to scalable production, optimizing for manufacturability, performance, and supply chain robustness.
  • Collaborate intimately with Design Engineering teams early in the development process, providing critical feedback for Design For Manufacturability and Assembly (DFM/DFA) specifically for components and integrated systems
  • Design and develop novel tooling, jigs, and fixturing for precision assembly, alignment, and testing of complex Core Technology hardware.
  • Develop robust, repeatable process flows for complex assemblies, encompassing intricate operations specific to battery integration, actuation, or energetics (e.g., precision joining, component integration, system sealing/conditioning).
  • Define and implement Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM) and Routings within MES and ERP systems
  • Write comprehensive manufacturing documentation, including detailed work instructions, quality control plans, inspection requirements, and environmental test procedures
  • Design and validate robust test methodologies and equipment for critical performance characteristics (e.g., power delivery, motion control, energy release) and environmental qualification (e.g., vibration, thermal, ingress protection) of Core Technology systems.
  • Work hands-on with technicians and other engineers, actively building, troubleshooting, and validating prototype and production Core Technology hardware.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of manufacturing or design engineering experience, specifically with high-reliability mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical components or systems (e.g., advanced battery packs, precision motor/gearbox assemblies, energetic devices).
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively deliver complex hardware solutions (e.g., advanced battery packs, precision actuators, energetic systems) in fast-paced, resource-constrained environments.
  • Demonstrated in-kind or direct team leadership skills, with backing examples of guiding projects or mentoring junior engineers.
  • Demonstrated ability to set up and optimize manufacturing environments, including MBOM creation, MES integration, and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) for complex hardware production.
  • Proficient with Siemens NX for CAD and Teamcenter for PLM software.
  • Hands-on experience physically manufacturing hardware (e.g., precision machining, additive manufacturing, electromechanical assembly, battery cell integration, energetic material handling, fabrication). Personal projects in robotics or control systems a plus.
  • Strong interest in manufacturing high-performance defense hardware and a commitment to continuous technical mastery.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Hands-on experience with control systems, servo motors, or high-performance electromechanical components in aerospace, marine, or robotics; OR direct experience with high-power battery systems, energy storage, or power electronics; OR experience with energetic materials processing, handling, or device assembly.
  • Experience with harsh environment manufacturing considerations (e.g., sealing, corrosion prevention, vibration isolation, thermal management, chemical compatibility).
  • Familiarity with aerospace (e.g., DO-160, MIL-STD-810), marine, or specific battery/energetics qualification standards.
  • Software scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for automation, data analysis, or testbed control.
  • Experience with advanced manufacturing processes like precision grinding, gear cutting, specialized surface treatments, battery tab welding, or energetic material pressing/filling.
