Position Summary: The Sr. Materials Planner is responsible for ensuring optimal material availability for Illumina's instrument and spare parts portfolio by balancing supply, demand, inventory, and lead-times to support manufacturing, service, and customer needs.
Responsibilities:- Develop and execute material plans to support instrument manufacturing, service, repair, and refurbishment operations.
- Monitor material availability and proactively communicate shortages or surplus to prevent supply disruptions in the network.
- Manage inventory levels to balance customer service, operational readiness, and inventory investment.
- Review and recommend updates to planning parameters, lead times, and master data.
- Analyze demand and supply changes, communicate risks and mitigation plans.
- Partner with Procurement to resolve delivery issues and improve material availability.
- Support product lifecycle transitions from a material readiness perspective.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Service, Quality, Logistics, and Supply Planning.
- Drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions for inventory imbalances (surplus or shortage).
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance planning efficiency, inventory performance, and service levels.
Requirements:- Minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree within Operations, Logistics, Business Administration, Supply Chain or Life Science disciplines
- Direct experience with supply and demand processes including forecasts, receipt and delivery processes, inventory reports, accuracy validation procedures, cycle counts and audit procedures is preferred
- Experience with ERP and MRP systems, preferably SAP
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and drive actionable insights
- Knowledge of MS Office with an emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including ability to craft messages and presentations for senior leadership.
- Ability to work with cross-cultural organizations and groups, remaining attentive to ideas, recognizing responsibilities, and actively participating with others to accomplish assignments and achieve desired goals.
- APICS CPIM, CSCP or other professional certifications preferred

The estimated base salary range for the Sr Materials Planner role based in the United States of America is: $82,500 - $123,700. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. The range reflects long-term growth in the role; therefore, most candidates are hired between the minimum and middle of the range. Placement depends on experience, skills, location, and internal equity.
