This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer (ME) familiar with the Rocket Engines in the Testing Environment to collaborate with other ME experts to establish common standards and help move the team forward with forward leaning advancements and technologies. This person will be a member of the group responsible for planning key initiatives and represent the ME function within the group and cross functionally across organization.
In this key role, you will establish standards for the development and implementation of manufacturing processes within a testing environment- including design for manufacturability, work instruction creation, tooling procurement support, process planning, configuration management, and configuration of efficient work cells. You will test out new technologies and take part in long-term planning activities to support detailed preparation for scaling our business to meet growing demand.

Responsibilities include:- Mentor manufacturing engineers, enabling a transformational and flexible organization to take on challenges as they arise.
- Operate as the SME on the Strategic Planning team in facilitating effective decision-making on complicated scenarios that will have a significant effect on the future of the team.
- Establish the standards for the development of fabrication specifications, acceptance & test plans, maintenance plans, and Statements of Work
- Responsible for defining and developing critical manufacturing processes and steps required for the configuration management, repair, assembly, integration, and testing
- Leading kaizen and other process improvement workshops and initiatives within all of Test Operations
Team Focus & Domain Expertise: The Domain responsibility includes the successful processing of Blue Origin rocket engines from the production line through acceptance testing of the engines and post test inspections. The team takes the testing plans, maintenance, and processes for each engine and translates them into executable work instructions for the Engine Technician team. The team is directly responsible for the configuration of the engine from the end of the production line to the delivery to customer. In this role you will help define and improve the processes supporting broader company level improvement initiativies and rolling them out within the testing environment. This workdirectly impacts the delivery of flight hardware to the New Glenn launch vehicle for launching into space. We are looking for a passionate engineer to drive standardization, drive up efficiency, solve complex problems, and push boundaries as we drive towards a highly efficient acceptance testing process.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university
- 7+ years of manufacturing or test experience
- Expert level experience in hardware manufacturing: assembly, integration, instrumentation, cleaning, non-destructive testing, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware, fabrication, machining, etc.
- Substantial experience with Design for Manufacturing/Integration principles.
- Substantial experience with configuration management, requirements management processes, requirements change processes, and risk management processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Proven familiarity with AI tools and their use in a manufacturing environment
- Strong digital literacy (MS Office, Jira, Confluence)
- Must be eligible and able to gain access to Redstone Arsenal
- Familiarity with quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001)
- Ability to travel up to 25% of your time to other test sites
- Willingness to shift work schedules to support testing operations as required
Preferred Qualifications: - Master's degree in engineering, business or project management
- Prior experience leading manufacturing engineers or similar
- 4+ years experience in a testing environment
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience with Process flow mapping
- Experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies
- Experience in human rated aerospace vehicles
- Experience with hazardous operations involving cryogenics, pneumatics, and electrical
- Substantial proven record in a wide variety of hardware including but not limited to: Multi-component and system assembly, bonding/adhesives, machining and electrical components
- Substantial experience across multiple portions of the product life cycle of spacecraft, launch-vehicle, or high-performance aircraft systems
