What you'll be doing

As a member of CIBC Bank US team, the Sr. Manager, Software Engineering is a senior technology leader responsible for delivering complex, enterprise-scale Client onboarding and compliance solutions across Commercial Banking platforms. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management, overseeing the design, build, integration, delivery, and support of business-critical applications such as Commercial Client Onboarding, including third party vendor integrations, new builds, enhancements, and modernization efforts..

The successful candidate will lead a team of Software Engineers delivering solutions for digital onboarding, workflow orchestration, KYC/AML integration, document management, identity and access integration, and downstream connectivity into FIS core banking systems. The role requires strong experience in Commercial banking, architecture, integration engineering, cloud/platform delivery, secure API design, and FIS banking systems, along with the ability to coach teams and partner closely with business, product, compliance, architecture, security, and vendor stakeholders.

Work Arrangement: At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll work in a hybrid environment with the expectation to be onsite at least two days per week in downtown Chicago while the other days may be remote.

How you'll succeed

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in application development, with significant experience leading Banking enterprise platforms and integration-heavy solutions; Preferred Commercial Banking experience
  • 3+ years in people leadership or managing technical teams.
  • Strong hands-on experience in enterprise application architecture and delivery.
  • Experience delivering solutions in the following domains:
    • client onboarding / CLM (client lifecycle management) / compliance / KYC / AML systems
    • banking or financial services platforms workflow and case management platforms, document management and e-signature solutions
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • API and integration architecture, REST/JSON services
    • event-driven and batch integration patterns
    • Microsoft Azure cloud services and distributed systems architecture
    • Experience with vendor/platform integrations and enterprise ecosystems.
    • Strong understanding of SDLC, DevOps, release management, and environment promotion practices.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams while remaining deeply involved in solution delivery.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $150,000- $165,000 for the Chicago market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
