Full Job Description
About The Role

We're hiring a Sr. Manager to own SEO at Opendoor end to end, across both seller and buyer sides of the business: technical foundation, keyword and search-intent strategy, and increasingly, AI search visibility. You'll set the organic search strategy, prioritize the highest-leverage bets across thousands of pages, and partner directly with Engineering on the technical work that unlocks organic growth: rendering, speed, crawlability, structured data. You'll also partner closely with our Content Lead on content production, bringing the keyword research, prioritization, and performance data that shapes what gets written, while they own voice. You'll use AI to move faster than a team twice your size, and you'll be judged on traffic and account creates.

Responsibilities

  • Own SEO strategy across the site: seller-side (sell pages, city and market pages) and buyer-side (resale listing and property pages).
  • Drive the technical SEO roadmap. Partner with Engineering on server-side rendering, page speed, Core Web Vitals, crawlability, and structured data. You scope the ask yourself and hold the line on priority.
  • Run a search-intent prioritization framework (bullseye, mid-funnel, outer band) to guide the technical roadmap and, in partnership with the Content Lead, the content roadmap: you bring keyword research, prioritization, and performance data on what's underperforming and should be refreshed or retired, and partner with them on production. They own voice.
  • Track and improve Opendoor's presence in AI search surfaces (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews), both technical citation optimization and how the brand is characterized in the answers people get.
  • Build and maintain SEO reporting that ties organic performance to account creates and contracts, using GSC, Ahrefs, and Snowflake funnel data. Account creates are the scoreboard; rankings and sessions are inputs.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Content, and Performance Marketing to align organic search with the broader acquisition strategy.
  • Use AI to compress the work: automated keyword research, content generation and rewriting workflows, technical audits. Build the workflows once, reuse them across hundreds of pages.

Requirements

  • SEO with real depth across both technical SEO and content strategy, including a senior or lead capacity.
  • A track record of driving organic traffic and conversion gains at a consumer or marketplace company, ideally at scale (thousands of pages).
  • Real technical depth: crawling and indexing, Core Web Vitals, structured data and schema markup, and JavaScript rendering issues. Enough web fluency to scope an engineering ask credibly and defend its priority.
  • Experience running a search-intent prioritization framework at scale and translating it into briefs a content team can execute against.
  • Fluency with Google Search Console and Ahrefs (or equivalent), and enough SQL or BI comfort to pull and defend your own numbers against business outcomes.
  • Working knowledge of how LLM-based search surfaces cite and rank content, and what actually moves visibility there.
  • Clear written communication. You can present a roadmap and its tradeoffs to senior stakeholders without a lot of hand-holding.
  • An ownership mindset. You operate with incomplete resourcing and unblock your own work rather than waiting on it.

Preferred

  • Real estate, fintech, or proptech experience, or another vertical with heavy local/market-page SEO at scale.
  • Experience partnering directly with engineering on rendering and performance fixes.
  • Familiarity with AI-native SEO tooling: LLM-based content workflows, AI visibility monitoring, automated technical audits.
  • Experience managing a contractor or small team.

How We Measure Success

  • Organic and non-brand search growth, tied to account creates.
  • Technical health: Core Web Vitals scores, crawl and index coverage, resolution of known rendering and page-speed blockers.
  • Content performance: whether SEO-prioritized content, new and refreshed, hits its traffic and conversion targets.
  • AI search visibility: citation rate and sentiment across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews for key brand and category queries.
  • Leverage: manual SEO ops work eliminated through AI-assisted workflows the rest of the team can reuse.

Location
This role is based in one of our offices, in-person four days per week. We're looking for candidates who are enthusiastic about an in-office culture; people who want to build alongside their teammates, not from a distance.
