The RoleWe're hiring our first Sr. Manager of Production Planning & Scheduling to own the factory side execution. Where our S&OP function decides where and whether we can build across the network, you own how and when it actually gets built on the floor. You'll own discrete operational scheduling, job sequencing and priority, and the daily/weekly rhythm that ensures on-time delivery (OTD) and sets the factory up for success.
This role reports to our Operations leadership and drives a consistent scheduling methodology across the network, while partnering closely with each site General Manager on execution. Your scheduling and planning team members will support the sites day-to-day (dotted-line to the GM) while you own the standards, methodology, and rigor centrally.
This is a builder and owner role. While the team is built out, you'll be hands-on developing the scheduling methodologies, communication rigor, and visual management that don't exist yet, and turning them into standard work. You'll be the person the floor, Program Management, and leadership rely on for a clear, credible answer to "what are we running, in what order, and are we going to hit the date?"
You'll partner tightly with the S&OP function, translating network-level allocation and capacity plans into an executable factory schedule - and feeding real execution signal back up to highlight and drive capacity improvements.
What You'll Do:Own Production Scheduling & Execution• Own discrete production scheduling and job sequencing across work centers to maximize on-time delivery and throughput.
• Own work order release to the floor and control what work is released and when.
• Set and manage priority and milestone dates, establish clear, transparent rules for what runs when, and make the trade-off calls when priorities conflict.
• Own data integrity for schedules and dates in the system, and maintain and drive accurate MRP schedules so plans, priorities, and downstream commitments can be trusted.
• Build the daily/weekly scheduling cadence and standard work that keeps the floor aligned, from shift-level execution to weekly look-ahead.
• Translate S&OP network allocation and capacity plans into an executable, sequenced factory schedule.
• Partner closely with the site General Manager to align on priorities, sequencing, and daily execution serving as the GM's right hand for turning the plan into on-time output.
• Establish the system and cadence for tracking work order progress through the floor, monitors status against milestone dates, surfaces at risk jobs early, and drives rapid recovery on exceptions.
Drive OTD & Factory Performance- Own on time delivery as a primary metric track it, root cause misses, and close the gaps.
- Ensure the factory is set up for success: materials, tooling, capacity, and priorities aligned ahead of the work, not discovered at the machine.
- Highlight and drive capacity improvements - surface constraints and bottlenecks from real execution data and partner with Operations and Engineering to resolve them.
- Feed execution signal (actual cycle times, constraints, attainment) back to S&OP to sharpen capacity models and sellable-capacity commitments.
Build Methodology, Rigor & Visibility- Develop the scheduling methodologies and logic from the ground up, sequencing rules, buffering, prioritization frameworks and codify them as standard work applied consistently across sites.
- Establish communication rigor: the meeting cadence, escalation paths, and reporting that keep the floor, the GMs, and leadership on the same page.
- Build the visual management schedules, boards, dashboards, and status views that make factory status, priorities, and risks obvious at a glance.
- Establish key scheduling metrics: OTD, schedule adherence, past due, work center utilization, and cycle time performance.
People Leadership- Lead, coach, and develop a team of production planners and schedulers as the function scales, including team members embedded at and dotted lined to the sites.
- Build organizational capability through talent development, standard work, training, and performance management.
- Foster a culture of accountability, urgency, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications• Proven experience in production planning, scheduling, or shop floor operations management in a discrete manufacturing environment.
• Deep understanding of production scheduling, sequencing, priority management, master scheduling, capacity/constraint analysis, and OTD drivers.
• Hands on experience with scheduling/ERP/MES systems and strong analytical and data visualization skills.
• Experience leading teams and developing planning/scheduling talent.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to drive urgency and accountability on the floor.
• ERP/MRP expertise work order lifecycle, MRP mechanics, and maintaining schedule/date data integrity at scale.
Education & Experience Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, Finance, or related discipline preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations.
Benefits for Full-time Employees- Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees
