Job DescriptionThe Sr. Manager of Data Engineering is responsible for overseeing the design, development and maintenance of data systems. The Sr. Manager will work closely with other departments in the business and IT to ensure data systems meet business requirements and service level agreements. The role will provide mentorship and guidance to a team focused on delivery of high-performance, reliable, scalable data solutions that support key business capabilities including Master Data Management, Data Warehousing, Analytics and Governance.
This is an on site role from our corporate office in Orlando, Florida.
ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Influence
- Provide technical and professional leadership to data engineering teams, developing the team's overall ability to produce quality data systems and information flows.
- Maintain healthy engagement with other technical and non-technical departments to provide right-sized data solutions for business and technology needs.
- Oversee internal and contracted resources to ensure successful delivery of solutions
Strategy and Execution
- Provide guidance to the enterprise for data collection, storage, structure, integrity and integration solutions.
- Consult with infrastructure, operations, and business teams to ensure data systems meet operational standards and SLAs.
- Work with Data and Solution Architects to create and maintain a holistic view of enterprise information systems and integrations.
- Develop and maintain reference architecture for data solutions and information flow within the organization and between external data partners.
- Develop and maintain new and existing data solutions and integrations, including data stores and pipelines.
- Assess new and innovative technologies and trends and evaluate new products or services that can be leveraged to create better data solutions.
- Ensure that data systems meet or exceed necessary compliance and regulatory requirements.
QualificationsTo fulfill this role successfully, you must possess the following minimum qualifications and experience: - Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis or a related field of study, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experiencing in managing data engineering, data warehouse, or other technical teams.
- Familiarity with on-premise and cloud based data ecosystems and tools including Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) models
- Familiarity with data modeling principals for transactional and analytical workloads.
- Familiarity with data integration tools and patterns such as Extract Transform Load tools, event messaging and web interfaces.
- Familiarity with data privacy and protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA, SOX, PCI, etc....)
- Ability to manage team projects.
- Excellent communications skills.
- Excellent analytical and technical skills.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions: - Master's degree in business, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis or a related field of study.
- Experience working with IT service providers in an outsourced resource model.
- Prior experience in a formalized enterprise IT organization with demonstrated expertise in data and information system management skills
- Data Warehousing and Data Lake design
- Master Data Management (MDM)
- Extract Transform Load (ETL/ELT) patterns
- Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
