Sr. HSE Specialist (Contingent)

Program Summary

The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) sustains the Army's mission to develop, acquire, field, and sustain ground combat, tactical, and support systems throughout their lifecycle. The program focuses on ensuring operational readiness, reliability, and safety of automotive and ground support equipment critical to Army operations.

Under this contract, personnel provide maintenance, repair, overhaul, and sustainment support in accordance with Army technical manuals, safety standards, and performance requirements.

Job Summary

As a Senior Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Specialist you will be implementing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and fostering a culture of safety within the organization. Your responsibilities will include incident investigations and reports, inspections, and ensuring compliance with HSE standards in alignment with client, federal, state, and local regulations, as well as KBR policies and procedures. You will engage with various stakeholders, including services personnel, clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies, interpreting standards, codes, and regulations. Additionally, you will contribute to the development and implementation of KBR values, systems, and standards, facilitating the collection and analysis of HSE statistics.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide support and leadership to the team to achieve HSE initiative objectives through the identification of critical, high and medium risk processes and support the development and implementation of appropriate controls along with internal and external stakeholder management.
  • Support the delivery and implementation of functional objectives by providing leadership and direction to team members.
  • Develop and maintain reporting requirements to ensure key HSE information is shared within the business.
  • Recognize and make recommendations to the business based on trends identified in key data and statistics.
  • Develop and deliver training for zero harm and safety culture programs as well as procedural and legislative requirements.
  • Track and monitor key performance indicators for each location office and management.
  • Audit and follow-up with corrective actions on both internal customers, project and subcontractors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications
  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field, and at least 5 years of directly related HSE experience. A High School Diploma and 7 years of HSE experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Hold advanced certification as safety specialist or practitioner from a nationally accredited, certification body such as the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, American Board of Industrial Hygiene NEBOSH, or equivalent.
  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of KBR HSE programs, policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of AR 385-10 (Army Safety Program) and OSHA Code of Federal Regulations (29 CFRs 1904,1910, and 1926) and host nation legislation.
  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to develop and improve processes.
  • Requires experience mentoring more junior team members.
  • Must be fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environment to include extreme cold and/or heat
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in HSE role on U.S. military bases.
  • Experience with operations involving military equipment maintenance operations.
  • Experience working in austere environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory standards and industry best practices, to include OSHA and Army Regulations.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing HSE programs and initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and statistical analysis skills.
  • Advanced HSE certifications or specialized training in areas such as incident investigation, risk management, or industrial hygiene.


Target Salary Range:

$88,300.00 - $132,400.00/annually DOE
