Title: Senior Field Engineer
Exemption Status: Exempt
About the Role
Reporting to the Superintendent, this is a senior level surveying position primarily responsible for managing field survey crew in establishing line and grade, control points, quality review and control on a project to satisfy Linbeck's commitment to the client with regard to schedule, cost and quality.
Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED plus 7 - 9 years of experience in commercial construction related survey work
5 - 7 years of experience as a Field Engineer
2 years of post secondary education including geometry, coordinate geometry, and trigonometry
Strong written and oral communication skills
Broad knowledge and understanding of all kinds of construction methods and procedures, including but not limited to steel or concrete structures, post tension, and tilt wall methods
Fully knowledgeable in the use of current survey equipment and technology
Strong survey technical skills and ability to train survey crew
Strong technical skills, including but not limited to CAD Software, Bluebeam, BIM 360, Excel
Primary Duties
Perform Field Engineering functions on any assigned job regardless of complexity
Maintain up to date drawings and specs by obtaining all pertinent information from project staff, including but not limited to RFI's and shop drawings
Work with engineers to review shop drawings
Train, supervise, and coordinate activities of multiple surveying crews with overall project schedule
Implement Lean Principles
Maintain an Engineer's Field Book or an equivalent record of built job conditions and record drawings of the work
Supervise Linbeck employees on a task basis
Execute the project QA/QC program in the field, utilizing Autodesk Build Issues and Checklists to document, communicate, and close quality items with the Job Team
Verify that control points, building corners, elevation benchmarks, gridline intersections, and offsets are set and maintained accurately per the Contract Documents, and create as-built documents that clearly communicate as-built conditions
Analyze the 6-Week Look Ahead schedule to prepare, sequence, and coordinate upcoming field engineering work with the Job Team and Subcontractors
Contribute to the Weekly Work Plan (WWP) to support Project Team commitments, plan daily tasks, and project field labor requirements in support of Linbeck Labor Coordination
Support the Job Team with constructability input during Submittal and Shop Drawing review to confirm the correct materials, dimensions, and design intent are provided prior to installation
Maintain intimate familiarity with the current and record Contract Documents and Project Documentation (drawings, specs, submittals, RFIs), utilizing the BIM Model and digital markup tools to identify conflicts and enhance coordination
